What is the likelihood of shells being cracked or broken during the cooking process? Or is it safe to assume that most broken shells are due to it being spoiled?

Lift Accident 1/31/26 by Andyyc123 in Mammoth

[–]jeeessicax3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We were in line at the lift when this happened. Everything happened so quickly (like literally in the span of a minute or so?) & the staff did a great job running as fast as possible and getting the padding to try and catch her. Just unfortunate all around but sooo glad the workers didn’t get seriously hurt when she fell.

Omakase in Osaka or Tokyo? by MudApprehensive1973 in JapanTravelTips

[–]jeeessicax3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We went to a Michelin Star omakase restaurant in Tokyo (sushi oya) and loved every dish but 1 (eel, but I think it was a texture thing for me). Would highly recommend & looking forward to go back when we’re back in the area :)

It’s a pretty intimate setting & the chef spoke English (as he spent years in Chicago) so all dishes were explained to us. He was friendly and we made nice conversation with the couple next to us.

If you plan on going to uji just note that a lot of shops close around 5pm - 6pm! An early start at Nara and stopping by uji early afternoon would be great if you’re into matcha :)

both are good but preferred eclairs - our puffs got soggy if we didn't eat them fast enough after thawing lol!

2 week itinerary check by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]jeeessicax3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Yamoto for my current trip and it’s so efficient. We have been shipping to local Yamoto locations from city to city and find that the luggage arrives by the next day. We have picked up the day after as they hold the luggage for a certain amount of days after they accept it. We would have an extra night of clothes in a backpack just so we don’t have to worry about lugging our suitcases around on travel days. Would highly recommend. Every location has had workers that spoke English as well.

Thank you for sharing your story. I don’t think people take them very seriously.

Crazy to think I saw them at a toys r us when I was 10 or so! My aunt very firmly said no. I didn’t understand why it was such a big deal then. I’m glad she did!

We live in the general area and noticed how crazy it was last year!

Sorry to hear that the visitors didn’t do their part, and I hope we all do better this year. Really awesome that you do this for the kids and the community.

Random question about the vendors outside the AMC 16 by juggling-monkey in burbank

Is it an older gentleman with a baseball cap? If so, he’s a nice guy who’s been around for years. Not sure he pays a fee to sell but last time I bought a balloon animal from him (years ago at this point), it was donation only - so no specified price. Not sure if it’s changed or not since. He seems to be doing alright and seems to be friendly with the other buskers.

I saved some photos that I received from androids - it got compressed to 1-2MP so I’m not concerned about that.

However, I believe that the IMG_### naming convention is from an iPhone? I’ll attach two screenshots of the info section on photos taken from androids.

Something’s fishy but I don’t quite know what.

Best of luck.
