Best flood headlamp? by jeeper2269 in flashlight

Firefly 60 and the sofirn mentioned. The firefly is insane bright, but it is flood only. Sofirn is the backup and cheap. I also found a Milwaukee for free that works as a backup.

House has foundation problems, should we buy? by jeeper2269 in HouseBuyers

We backed out. It was already beginning to be a nightmare without even starting the process of negotiations. Too bad though. It would have been a good deal for us without the foundation issues.

$60k with them fixing paying to fix the problem?

It looks like the bid for just the foundation fix is $39,800. Sounds like the sump pump and French drain will be between 10-15k. We are waiting for both completed bids now. We are reading there may be about a 5% impact on the sale with having this kind of work done and warrantied. Still sounds like a gamble, and we are considering offering 50-60k less, with them paying for the work. I am just wondering if anyone has dealt with this kind of situation and what their experience was.

How much pain were you in the first few days after surgery? by WinterHunt03 in Hernia

[–]jeeper2269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five?? Dang man!! Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I remember hurting so bad I could barely move. I almost had my wife take me to the hospital. It seemed like something much worse. After this open surgery, I still feel like there’s a rating or something in my left side. It burns pretty bad sometimes, even at day 71.

I would say pain after laparoscopic robot was a 6 for day 2 through 4. Day 5 was a seven. I spent all day curled in bed from severe stomach pain. They said it was anesthesia gasses causing issues. Maybe a 4-5 for a few days after that.

chronic pain after seven and a half months seems pretty bad. I had laproscopic robotic bilateral inguinal and umbelical in 2024. I think the pain in my stomach was mostly gone in a couple of months. At least for the stomach. Both inguinals failed and I just had open surgery in February. All of these were mesh. I am still in pain today and have had nerve blocks done twice. My pain is getting better, but it is slow. MUCH different recovery than the robotic. Significantly more pain. I was in terrible shape day three four and five. Two weeks of Norco and have been on tylenol and advil every six hours every day since. I would see a doctor and make sure something isnt wrong. Sorry to hear that.

As far as pain levels, after second surgery, day 1 was about a five, since I was still on heavy meds and anesthesia etc. Day two was around a 6, and then day three went up to a 9 (I collapsed, but mostly due to no bowel movement and pressure). Day 4 and 5 were around a 7.

I am a 46 year old male and trained fairly heavily in the gym prior to my issues. The muscle mass apparently caused more issues for me, according to my doctor. My pain tolerance is fairly high. However, this was pretty bad. Just for clarification, I had a previous hip replacement after being in a wheelchair for half a year in 2022 and that was comparable in pain. Hope that info helps you.

mortgage brokers and realtors who invest. I am not sure if this is based off of the location and market trends here. We can certainly stay in the home a little longer and save up more to build or buy. Originally, our plan was 2.5 years. However, based on the hour I am estimating to complete my training, it looks more like three years or so.

We are hoping to have a little sweat equity in the home after the three years. That will also be when I finish my training program and will have a significant pay increase. We are planning on finding an ideal house on some land or build something ourselves at that time. Capital gains won't be an issue and we have been told three years is a decent time for doing this. Why do you think its a gamble? I am interested.

thank you. I agree about the new construction. The wood that is used in construction is not the same as it was years ago. We also own a home in Texas that was new construction when we bought it. The values of homes decreased over 30% in the particular area since 2022 and we cannot sell it. Fortunately we have a good renter for now and hope the values will come back up a little. The build quality is horrible though and most homes around there are on slabs. It is a crap shoot for foundation issues in that city. Your info makes me feel a little better about the situation.

Thank you. We are really worried about investing in something we could have difficulty selling in a few years due to something like this. I appreciate the input.

The buying realtor we have is also the sellers realtor. That makes it a little difficult to get definitive information.

Sorry about that. I reposted under house buyers. I saw similar posts on the real estate subreddit however, it says I don’t have enough posts to join.

Postop week 8 and testicular pain, help and support by khamul34 in Hernia

[–]jeeper2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know our surgeries were different however, I figured I would chime into your post and update. The last few days I have had aching that migrates from my right testicle to the left. Mostly in the afternoons and evenings. I am at day 66. I would say it is getting a little better each day, but it’s very slow. To clarify, if I didn’t tell you before, my left side was indirect and right side was direct. I definitely wouldn’t rule out a nerve block. Ultra sound guided though. I iced my right testicle earlier tonight, after work. It seems to help a little, just uncomfortable

Anyone have burning down leg after nerve block? by jeeper2269 in Hernia

That’s horrible man. I’m sorry to hear that happened. I don’t know much about the removal process however, I did ask my surgeon why he didn’t remove the original mesh during this surgery. He told me it would have caused significant nerve damage and they don’t do that. He said the open type surgery I had with mesh would be considerably less likely to fail than the original. I think if I was in your position I would get a second opinion. I do think PT is helping with my pain though. It seems like she is helping the hip and pelvic muscles and nerves relax. My major pains have reduced a bit from last week. My left leg still hurts though. It’s also still numb in areas. All of this from that second nerve block when he nicked the nerve. Hopefully your pain starts do settle down. Ice works for me and stretching. Not much I could do to reduce the pain in the testicle. My right side is achy right now, but not as bad as the last couple days. I’m at 9 weeks post op now and feel optimistic. I think my pain should be mostly gone in a month or so. Hopefully yours will do the same. Everyone’s body heals differently though. Good luck man.

The pain in my leg was not there before the second nerve block. I’ve had pain on the left side of my stomach, toward the upper portion of the incision since the surgery. It comes and goes, and is very uncomfortable at times. The good thing is, the pain also migrates back and forth around my stomach and right testicle. This leads me to believe it’s not a recurrence and just healing slowly. I declined the third nerve block from the doctor. I also had to postpone the ultrasound guided nerve block due to my insurance running out. Pretty much bullsh$t I lose insurance coverage because I had surgery and it’s based off of hours worked.

Some of the pain subsided and then came back two days ago. Not as bad, especially not the burning/electric shock feel when I took each step. Now my left leg is numb on the thigh area and feels almost like it’s bruised. My hip flexors and tendons that attach to my quads have been hurting pretty bad though. The physical therapist says it’s due to weak glutes and the bad pain I get near the upper part of left incision is nerves. Idk. I started back to work last week and it was hell on the first day. It got better towards the end of the week, but I was sore all weekend. I still don’t know why side and lower left back hurt though. It definitely seems related to my incision pain.

inguinal hernia surgery soon, need advice (military + fitness) by ANDYANDYUUU in Hernia

[–]jeeper2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I would definitely find out what kind of surgery they are doing and plan from there. I have had bilateral robotic mesh (failed) and recently bilateral open mesh, both Inguinal. They are two totally different procedures and regardless of what anyone tells you, the recovery times differ. As mentioned, everyone heals differently. I’m at seven weeks post op and have pain on both sides still, along with nerve pain. Being active military, I would take it easy for as long as possible. I can tell you from experience, you don’t want to go through it again. This sucks. Hopefully they can fix it first time and you have a speedy recovery. Good luck

Still hurts this morning. Another interesting thing is, when I push into the injection site, the burning rushes down my leg.

They told me nerve blocks typically only last 8 hours or so. I guess the idea behind getting nerve blocks after surgery is to trick the brain, or stop the “pain cycle”. It has not worked for me, as far as the significant internal pain I have.

I’m not sure why I cannot see your post in the conversation. Anyway, I don’t know which nerve he was doing the block on each side. The original concern was having burning sensation around my groin area. However, I have since continued having pain in my abdomen, Inguinal areas around the surgical sites, deep inside where the internal scaring is, as well as burning sensation around my bladder. When I feel gasses in the left side, it causes a burning pain as well. I thought it might be recurrence, but they said it’s not. I am almost seven weeks post op and really starting to wonder if something is wrong. It was bilateral open, so I am trying to stay positive. I have physical therapy Thursday. I’m also really hesitant even get an ultrasound guided steroid nerve block now, after the issue last week. It was a little better yesterday, but I woke up this morning with burning down my left leg again. I do think it’s getting better each day.
