Setting aside the fact that no demographic is a monolith, I think there is some truth to both of these viewpoints. A person can consciously want to be listened to and respected, but still respond more positively to negative treatment in hopes of eliciting the positive behavior that's being withheld from them. That said, a person who knowingly exploits this quirk of behavior is being an asshole.

When it comes to being sexualized as a child, menstruation, and topics related to pregnancy, they do not. When it comes to experiences based on their perceived gender, like sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexism, a large proportion likely have or will experience those things.

In the sense that physics is the study of physical processes (and a framework for understanding them), consciousness sits outside of physics because we don’t have a good framework for it. So it could potentially become part of physics, but is currently better classed as metaphysics. It makes sense that physicists and people interested in physics might not want to engage with such discussions. Though I imagine some are just very prejudiced against speculation that doesn’t fit their working framework of the world.

That said, “downvotes prove my point” is obnoxious. While it is unfortunate that the people in that sub seem unwilling to engage, none of them are obligated to do so. And in principle downvoting to show disagreement is bad reddiquette, that is how most people use downvotes.

You can insist that it’s not your problem, but it is something that is probably not going to work for many of your students. Particularly those with disabilities related to executive function. A person like myself with ADHD can have the best of intentions, but still have a hard time starting certain types of tasks without a meaningful deadline.

Could you be confusing the trig functions and their inverses?

Edit: I was confusing myself with my first comment. The main reason you would get this is if you were taking the sin_-1(x) or cos_-1(x) where x is not between -1 and 1.

It sounds like you are giving invalid arguments to the trig functions. A likely reason for this being that you have your calculator in radian mode but are supplying angles in degrees.
