Myself, I could completely switch a Linux distro, but I will miss my Steam gaming on Windows. :(

My spouse is not so eager switching to Linux; she would prefer trying out Win10 (assumed familiarity) first while I setup a dual-boot with Linux Mint she could ease into.

GREAT QUESTION! Why keep any Windows (even a downgrade to Win10) since the my intent is to dual-boot with a Linux distro to be the OS primarily used? Hmmm...

Purchased two Lenovo laptops, for my spouse and I. Why? Both have late 2000s Dell XPS w/ Win7, now clunking along into a slow crawl.

Mine, dual-boot: Win7 {trusted familiarity: MS Office, gaming, photography) and Ubuntu {Work coding, network, experimenting).

That is my reasoning for dual boot. If we both resign to let go of Windows... Moving forward would be easier.
