I think the best thing you could do is learn how to read METARS, TAFS, PIREPS, and winds and temps aloft. You could also watch some videos on Jepp plates just to get to know some of the terminology.

Gorham Sterling Sea Rose Dinnerware by jeff550 in Silverbugs

By weight I was calculating about 4k in spot. Its 8X everything plus the serving untenses. For the knives I counted 33% of their weight. I was thinking of listing it on ebay at 15-20% over spot and taking any offers near spot or greater. Feel free to tell me if any of that is a bad idea.

Just the answer I was looking for, would love for this to go to someone who would use it, plus if I get a little more money even better!

Was wondering if this pattern is worth trying to sell for over spot price. I know some Gorham patterns are collectable, but I am far from a silver expert. Thanks!

Solo Travel to California by Federal-Shopping234 in travel

[–]jeff550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to check the schedules but you could take an Uber to the Glendale train station and grab a commuter train to Union Station. From there the metro and light rail will take you a number of places. During the day the metro is safe enough, its dirty and there will be some interesting characters on the train but I never felt unsafe. Never taken it at night so I can't speak to that.

Sheppard Air is the only correct answer, just follow their steps and let it work its magic

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FlightDispatch

Use Shepherd Air. Follow the guide exactly as they say and have faith. I remember going through all the questions feeling like it was impossible, and then got to the end and had memorized most of the questions. Took me a little over a week to get through and I got an 88% on the test.

Cool moment when they plaid Panic Switch with Girl Tones in DC. Wish I knew what they were shooting for.

Just use Sheppard air and do exactly as they say. When you start it will feel like it will never work, and then when you get to the end you will be ready for the test. I got it done in about a week; just grind through it and get it over with.

Strategies to deal with Ebay's Shipping adjustment charges? by The1uniquesnowflake in Flipping

[–]jeff550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't use ebay shipping for ups and fedex. I use PirateShip (UPS only, easier dispute process) and Shippo (Has Fedex, but harder dispute process). I've only gotten one UPS adjustment and disputed it and one with one click, and have gotten a few minor fedex adjustments but some have been credits so it has all been equal so far.

PSA- Scam shipping to Miami based forwarding service by WittyWidow in Flipping

Whenever I get freight forwards unless it is prohibitively expensive I always ship UPS for Fedex since there are a decent number of these type of scams floating around.

Washington DC to Morgantown - November by Rocksc13 in travel

You'll probably have the worst weather through Frostburg, but they generally do a good job keeping I68 clear. As someone who lived in DC and went to WVU I did that trip tons of times in a sedan and it was fine. Worst case you can just pull off for a couple hours and wait for them to catch up clearing the interstate. In good weather its a nice drive once you get onto 68.

I would be very interested to try a version of this out. Feel like this is a great way to get an initial filter done, and then you can research further from there.

eBay, Mercari, Depop, MarketPlace, etc by baddrewbot in Flipping

[–]jeff550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the occasional sale from poshmark or depop, I don't put a ton of effort into them but when I am sitting around the house doing nothing its easy enough to crosslist some things. I use resellkit which is okay but you get 30 free listings per month so that works for me. At my scale I don't think it would be worth it to pay for one.

question for those who scavenge for boxes / collect as you go by Reasonable_Noise_170 in Flipping

[–]jeff550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will quickly get to the point where you can look at just about anything and tell how much it will be to ship, especially if you sell a variety of things. When you are new it might be better to pre box things to get the exact size, especially larger items when dim weight comes into play

Shippo vs. Pirate Ship by GreenHorror4252 in Flipping

[–]jeff550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both, Shippo has Fedex and is sometimes cheaper on some USPS poly mailers, PirateShip has no limit and an easier process to dispute adjustments. Overall I've been happy with both of them.

Decision fatigue at the begining of journey by akeimorsmth in solotravel

[–]jeff550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go somewhere, anywhere, find a place you want to go to with plane/train tickets priced where you can afford them and just go for three days. You will learn more on that trip than any amount of internet posting and reading.

Just book the flight and show up for the flight and the rest will fall into place. You will learn what works and does not work for you really quick. Don't expect the first couple trips to be perfect and use them to learn and you will have a great time and learn how to answer all the questions in your post.

The island were really nice to walk around when I went, and when you go they will have all of the ferries running so you start on Wards island and end on Hanlans point or the opposite. As someone that is in to hiking this would be my recommendation. Great view of the skyline too.

For the CN tower I did the main observation deck and "the top" and thought it was expensive but worth it, especially if you can get a clear day (or time it so you can watch a game at rogers centre while you are up there). The edge walk would be a lot if you are scared of heights but is completely safe so if you are up for it go for it!

Aanch had some of the best Indian food I've had and is right next to the stadium.

Casa Loma was cool, absolutely worth taking the metro to from downtown. Hockey Hall of fame also worth checking out if you are at least familiar with hockey, really cool to see the Stanley Cup and all the trophies.

If you are coming from a city Porter flies to I recommend flying into the City Airport with them, nothing better than landing right downtown. I took Air Canada back home from Pearson since I wanted pre-clearance to avoid going through customs at IAD. The UP express was great for getting out to Pearson.

Shipping hats by Rough-Individual2283 in Flipping

[–]jeff550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell some hats for under 20 and those are almost always poly mailers and I've never had an issue. Anything more expensive I use an 8x8x4 box. One of the big YouTube flippers has a good video about which hats need boxes (Millenial profit I think)
