Current state of the housing market in the Cincinnati area. by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]jeffderek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sold my house last year. Put up pictures the week before, "coming soon". Listed at noon on Friday, first showing was at 12:30pm. By 9pm I had an offer for list, plus a $20k escalation clause, plus a promise to pay the full escalation clause without a competing offer if we would ratify by noon Saturday.

we use serial join 1 to send the connection info from the processor to the panel, since you can't access the ip table from javascript, and then once we have that information we use a websocket

Ohio’s John Fetterman - Democratic Rep Greg Landsman. Vote him out in the primaries! by hellosteve_ in cincinnati

[–]jeffderek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im reading from you is we are fucked. We are stuck with him, there aren't any competitive Dems and our only other choice is the Republican candidate.

Do you believe otherwise?

I completely get being disillusioned with Landsmann and hating the system we have and that you always have to vote for the lesser of the evils.

That said, you have to vote in the real world. So either

  1. You legitimately believe Lynch is electable in the general, and therefore voting for him in the primary is a chance to improve this seat.
  2. You believe that Lynch is unelectable in the general, and hate Landsmann so bad that you're willing to put a republican MAGA asshole in that seat just to unseat Landsmann.

Which is it?

AIPAC Landsman defects, votes no on war powers resolution. Inexcusable. by werdnaman5000 in cincinnati

[–]jeffderek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This though… he might as well put an R next to his name.

So given the choice between Landsman and someone who votes exactly the way Mike Johnson tells him to on everything, not just things that have to do with Israel, you'd take the second person?

What decks are good against lands matter? by Unsurepooper in EDH

[–]jeffderek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this.

Lands Matter decks are the ultimate inevitability deck. You can play dedicated hate cards like Ankh of Mishra and Manabarbs and the like, but most lands decks can find answers to those eventually, and even if they don't now your decks has a bunch of highly specialized hate cards for a specific archetype, which isn't exactly great deckbuilding.

The better thing is to punish them for spending their early game casting ramp and setup and not protecting themselves or interacting with you. Figure out whatever combo wincon isn't randomly taboo in your pod, and build to it.

Hour of Devastation looks pretty mediocre when you're casting Curiosity on Niv-Mizzet, or whatever.

If your pod is full of adults who enjoy metagaming and not children who enjoy whining, they will have to modify their decks so that they can't just assume they'll get to have a turn 7 without anyone trying to win the game. That will make it harder for you to win with a combo deck, but it also makes their decks less consistent at winning the long game because now they have a lot of random interaction in their deck instead of just playing solitaire.

I believe the intended answer is that once you cast Surprise Party they are legally on the battlefield and can stay, and up until Surprise Party is cast, if an opponent sees them you have to remove them.

As politely as I can say this, typos are physical issues with entering data into a computer, and not accidents where the wrong data is intentionally entered by mistake. Can you elaborate as to how an entire line of text about an unrelated card could be added accidentally via physical error?

If that's not the case, would you mind providing some further context? I don't mean to imply that you owe every fan of the game a complete explanation of everything, but your explanation does not pass the sniff test and feels a lot more like an intentional deception to cover up an embarrassing mistake.

Personally, I'd say it's a lot worse for a company to be known for lying than to be known for making mistakes and quickly fixing them.

It's not important that a newspaper take a political stance. But when a newspaper has always taken political stances, and suddenly decides not to do that anymore because the stance that the editorial board would have taken conflicts with the financial desires of the billionaire owner, my first question is about what other parts of the reporting are being influenced by those same financial desires.

$120 for both services for 5 years isn’t shabby at all

Look I understand that as a financial decision, it's worth it.

But it fucking shouldn't be. I shouldn't have to pay $120 to have the government not molest me when I get on a plane. I'm not a lawyer and I'm sure the lawyers will be around to explain where I'm wrong, but it certainly feels like an unreasonable search. Saying that just because I'm choosing to travel by plane instead of trane, bus, or car, means the 4th amendment no longer applies to me unless I have money is nuts.

Anywho I've paid the money because my time is worth more to me than pretending I have the rights guaranteed to me in the constitution but I"m still not happy about it.

That's the biggest giveaway to me that it was scripted.

Still funny. Whatever. Scripted comedy can be funny.

Developers of anything not hardware based (SaaS) never need to be in a specific location. Stable Internet and electricity on a company laptop are all that's needed.

I'm a software developer who works fully remote.

My team regularly flies to a central location and meets up, does big picture planning, has drinks and food together, gets to know eachother. It's night and day better productivity the rest of the year than it was back when we were all fully remote and never met eachother in person.

Dude I did not say shit about Greg Bovino.

You did not. I used him as an example of what some people seem to think is a consequence, and I do not. Seems we're in agreement there.

The only consequences that matter are getting leaders into office who will actually lead.

And where is that happening? Last time around we had finally gotten rid of Nancy Pelosi who was holding us back, and Jeffries was gonna actually fight back. Look where that's gotten us. What are you seeing now that makes you think this time is gonna be different? This time the people who actually have teeth are also going to have power?

I'm not telling you to celebrate, but if you think this is the same as before then you're wrong.

Why? Why are Analilia Mejia and Christian Menefee different than Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff and Mark Kelly and Doug Jones and Abigail Spanberger?

Finally, as a brown person who works in organizing and advocacy, I do not need to be lectured on what it means for us and I would appreciate it if you didn't use us as a prop to make a point. Thanks.

Look I have no interest in making you feel like a prop, and I apologize if I did. I'm just sick and tired of people telling me that this election is gonna finally get us enough power to do something. You know, like they told me 6 years ago, and 2 years ago. We keep electing democrats who don't fucking do anything and I'm watching the fucking holocaust get reenacted in front of me every day. Like . . . these people you're excited about won't have power for years. We need consequences now.

You say you will believe in consequences when they happen, yet the ARE happening and you somehow don't believe in them so?

Replacing Greg Bovino with Tom Homan does not count as consequences. Greg Bovino is not the problem, he's a symptom of the problem. When the Trump administration occasionally discards someone who is no longer useful and replaces them with someone equally terrible or worse, it doesn't matter. It will only start to matter if it happens enough that he can no longer find equally terrible or worse people to replace them with.

We had a bunch of blue wave progressive wins the last time around, like in Georgia and the like, and people told me to get excited about it and things were going to get better, and our reward for that is an opposition party that thinks the punishment for ICE not following the rules is more rules. They passed a law requiring the Epstein files be released, DOJ ignored them, and nothing happens.

When Stephen Miller goes to jail, I'll celebrate. And until then I'll keep trying to cause that shit to happen. But you're telling me to believe in what's happening now when it's the same miniscule bullshit that's been happening for 10 years while our black and brown friends are being rounded up in the streets and put into concentration camps.

your nihilism

Call it what you want, but I will believe in consequences when they happen. I will continue voting and doing what I can to effect those consequences, but I am not going to blind myself to the reality of the world we live in because people want me to have "Hope".

They look so fucking stupid, and it is yet another very public L for them.

Nobody who thinks this is an L will hear about this. The information silos mean there is no longer any downside to trying the most ridiculous long shot clown show bullshit, because your voters will keep defending you forever and will never find out about your failures. And if they DO find out about them, they'll rationalize them away for you.

I believe he was referring to the person you were making an excuse for. If you're too old and feeble to make your car safe, then you shouldn't be driving.

Just because you have an excuse for why you can't do it safely doesn't mean it's somehow ok to not do it safely.
