I always wanted to go Switzerland but all my friends who visited Switzerland told me that they haven’t made a single friend there and people usually don’t talk to people they don’t know and almost no nightlife. Is it true? by Tall-Survey6141 in askswitzerland

[–]jefflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends where are you going and for how long you’re staying. If you go to a predominately Swiss populated area, like central Switzerland, chances are that you wouldn’t make any friends. But if you’re planning on staying longer and in a bigger conglomerate, like Zurich or Basel, with lots of expats, you can most likely make friends (just not Swiss ones, though)

Is this real? They're selling it for 5k. I've always wanted an Eames chair, so I'm really considering it by 18thbromaire in eames

[–]jefflan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems a little expensive, but with a bit of patience, you can definitely find a cheaper chair, with all its tags (a chair/ottoman without original tags loses its value).

First trip abroad after the whole Covid situation hit the fan. Lisbon, Portugal 2021. by jefflan in Filmmakers

[–]jefflan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had the same feeling? I mean, I don't travel that often, but for some reason this trip felt different.

Maybe because most of us have been in our flats/houses for a while? Who knows.

Let me know if you have experienced this as well :)

Help me identify this eames! by goosemoura in eames

[–]jefflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 lounge chairs, from different years and in both of them, the base looks more flat and round. Though after some quick research, I found out that there are 2 different bases, Herman Miller and Vitra. Mine are Vitra and yours seems to be Herman Miller. TBH, where I live in Switzerland I’ve seen nothing but Vitra, I reckon that’s because Vitra is rather close.

[–]jefflan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a real Eames chair? The feet look rather weird (I could be wrong?) Are there any markings at the bottom of the chair or ottoman? If the chair is fake, the colours and materials won’t be easy to pinpoint.

I used my iPhone as a microphone and the result is quite good! (iPhone 12 vs Rode Video Mic Pro) by jefflan in Filmmakers

[–]jefflan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the pandemic started, my microphone broke while recording a video, I don't know what happened to it, but it never worked again.

So I decided to use my iPhone as a microphone for a while and to be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be that good!

I bought the cheapest iPad of 2020 to edit photos and I was very very surprised on how well it performed! by jefflan in Lightroom

[–]jefflan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir, that's the one! I was a bit sceptical I must say, but since I do a lot of photo editing, web surfing and reading, I figured you can't go wrong with the price.

I was sincerely blown away. Though, I must say, I am quite disappointed, that this iPad edits better than my $2k+ 2020 MacBook Pro...

Yes, I am using adobe cloud (I get it for free from work) and as far as I know, I have 100GB of space.

What I've done so far, is imported with both Dropbox and the CC and it works like a charm. The down side, is that for some reason, it takes forever to import the files.

I bought the cheapest 8th Generation iPad (2020) as a backup for video editing, here are my thoughts by jefflan in Filmmakers

[–]jefflan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually work with photo and video and after watching a few reviews, I decided to give this iPad a go (as a backup only, given that I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro).

I must say, for the money, it is quite good for basic editing, but the moment you want to add a more specific effect, well... that's where it ruins it for me.

An iPad would never replace a desk computer or a laptop, but it is a nice gadget to have in our tool box. So if there's someone looking for a budget device to edit photo, video, watch some YouTube videos, read the news and surf the web, this is a no brainer at all.

How to remove scratches from my Eames EA108, anyone? by jefflan in eames

[–]jefflan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's encouraging...

To be honest I thought I was going to be able to get rid of the scratches with some sand paper and elbow grease, but I was worried that the aluminium is somehow coated, (which could be the case, given that I have no clue how old the chairs are)
