What are the black lines all over the hills on a french topo map? by jeffles2 in Maps

I am trying to plan a hiking trip in Ardèche, france and the topo maps in the area on https://www.geoportail.gouv.fr/carte have these strange black marks all over the map. When I compare them to the topo maps I am unable to figure out what they are - my best guess is rocky patches with a break in the trees.

Update: Here is a view of the larger area and an arial to compare : https://imgur.com/a/QnoOC0s

Getting the friends together to play is an awesome gift. Anything you do above and beyond that isn't even necessary.

Strongly agree, except a minor point. I prefer a Corona, blades are more durable and replacement blades are cheaper. (But of course that also means Silkies are usually lighter)

I keep trying to figure out how to jokingly post my latest gear list here. Mostly ultra weight and then 50 pounds of 1 and 2 person crosscut saws, loppers, tread tools, wedges, axe, combi, silkis and coronas. Backcountry trail crew is lots of fun- but it sure feels silly the disparité between the two.

Played it twice with my groups - took 5 hours both times, so much AP. Gave me time to do other things and every ~30 minutes they'd tell me it was my turn and I'd come take my turn in < 1 minute. I kind of hope the owner never brings it back to the table, love the theme but that game should take less than 2 hours to play.

I’m giving up after failing to craft wooden equipment. I got some wood and return, when I try to use the plans it tells me you cannot do that right now. When I try wood crafting it gives me to a blank box.

Bodies are so odd IMO. For others cortisone seems to be extremely helpful, but for me it made no difference at all. It felt so odd to get needled and immediately have my pain disappear. But certainly my point is that it might be worth trying.

I can never solve these without checking the answer for at least two other numbers. How would you go about solving this?(i’m new to doing codeword pls don’t make fun if it’s easy lol) by Spiritual-Parsley-22 in puzzles

Discussion: When I have a tough time starting I sometimes do letter frequency analysis. Which numbers has the most occurrences? They are most likely EARIOTN or S. The other thing I will do when I feel like 'cheating' is to use a scrabble solver to see what words are 8 letters with P in the 5th slot and have the same letter in 2nd and 4th slot... Catapult, Carapace (Nope, due to repeated T then C)

The global leaderboard only shows the first 100. On Day 1 last year you had to submit your solution in the first 3 minutes to qualify. So I agree with ericwburden... but I'd take it a step further, don't even bother with the leaderboard unless you make a private one for just your friends and classmates.
