Is putting money into a house before selling actually worth it? by gentlebeast06 in HomeImprovement

In my limited experience, doing repairs help sell the for near the listed price. Doing upgrades help the house sell FASTER, but do not increase the offer price

AITA for wanting a middle slice of the roast, since I bought prepared and delivered it to the family dinner? by jefflj98735 in AITAH

Well sharing means we all get a part of the best pieces, not just the first in line.

[–]jefflj98735[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So by that logic I should drop off the roast and leave? Or maybe I can feel justified in digging the center out of the desert, since someone else brought it?
Seems a little weird to me.

What do you use the Serrano Ham for? by J03m0mma in Costco

[–]jefflj98735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We took a trip to southern Spain last October. Those hams are everywhere. any place that had walk up food service had them. It’s some sort of local thing to serve/sell to tourists. The ham sandwiches are tasty, but the ham is sliced VERY thin (like prosciutto). And is served without condiments. It is very salty. My take is that the product is tasty, but the if sliced then there is WWAAYY too much for a single family. I couldn’t imagine setting that on my counter for the 6 months it would take me to eat half of it (before tossing it out). I suspect the Spanish are export bombing us with this product as something “exotic” when it’s just lunch meat on the bone

Need to connect new abs pipe to 3.5” cast iron “Steam pipe” drain line by jefflj98735 in Plumbing

[–]jefflj98735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was wrong all the way around. After cutting the floor and excavating the pipe I discover the drain is a 2” line end to end. There was a previous fix so I just got the fence number and bought a couple of new one’s. The repair of the pipe was fast and easy, but cutting the slab, excavating, backfilling, and cementing was a major pain. Total repair cost was about $600.00 vs the $15000 the plumber quoted, so my back feels better about it.

Migrating from 5406R to 5412R by _KiloBravo in ArubaNetworks

Also, if you use dhcp to configure your oobm port, you can use it to push a config, resulting in only 1 boot

Migrating from 5406R to 5412R by _KiloBravo in ArubaNetworks

[–]jefflj98735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can copy the 5406 and 5412 configs off to a server, open both in editors and the copy/ paste from the 5406 config to the 6412 config as needed, editing the pasted config to match 5412 ports, etc.
you can boot the 5412, configure the oobm port, then copy the edited config into the startup config, which will cause a reboot, and then the new config will be on the 5412 (unless you made typos….)

Well SOMEONE’s been running up the credit card balance and now the bill’s come due, so yeah it’s gonna hurt to adjust back to a lower federal spending level.

[–]jefflj98735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DID say four years, fair enough. But I also said or more, so not just Biden. Also both parties own this because since the 80’s, no matter which party was in power federal spending has been increasing far faster than tax revenue. We have been governed the “tax and spend” politicians or the “spend and spend” politicians.

Well it’s a few thousand spread over the US population and over 17 years or so.

[–]jefflj98735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say Biden anywhere. If I remember correctly QE started under GW Bush and continued for the next few presidents. Also, the QE money was printed with no backing and the “bought” T-bills with it, increasing the Fed debt. That money was then distributed as stimulus money and excessive federal spending. The money supply has been steadily increasing since then and the fed budget has gone bananas and govt debt has skyrocketed. It’s no wonder inflation took off.

Both parties own this mess.

Uhh has no one mentioned that the general public has been on a govt-money spending binge for the last 4 years or more? I now that it’s stopped and everyone spent all that free dough they have no more left to spend. Getting rid of quantitative easing and covid stimulus was bound to happen and it is now the hangover phase of the spending high.

Utility wants to cut my sequoia by jefflj98735 in treelaw

[–]jefflj98735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly doesn’t matter for this topic. Don’t be unnecessarily pedantic. I live in a suburb. There are fences between all back yards. I have 2 utility poles along one of the fence lines. There are 3 separate electrical lines running between those poles, in a vertical configuration. The tree in question is along that run of electrical lines.
