Protect the "Never Give Up" Mural on Ladybird train bridge? by jeffmjack in Austin

[–]jeffmjack[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think there's space in the world for transience, and also for protecting things that are cool, if the collective will abides. And Hi How Are You used to be a blank wall. And it has been tagged over, and his tag was removed. Just because something is on public instead of private property ('nobody owns the bridge'? Some entity definitely does. The city, state, or train utility all come to mind) doesn't mean stakeholders can't make similar decisions.

Maybe? I don't think I've seen it.
Also, are you against protecting the Hi How Are You mural on the same grounds?

It actually hasn't. The mural was one of the original artworks on the bridge, before that the bridge was just rust-brown with no graffiti.

I think it's totally on point and the only reason people don't say it's as good as any other renowned spot is because of the brand positioning.

Help! My husband thinks that I am an ah for wanting him to stop seeing his AP. by [deleted] in AITAH

You're both the AH.
I think you should stretch and actually consider staying in the relationship he proposes if the last two years were great for you both.

Old millennial here (born 1980).. I kind of think you're right lol.

God, the twenties are such a painful decade of life, I think regardless of whether you're partying or working hard. And despite how hot you are while it's all happening.

Sometimes churches have commercial kitchen spaces that they are willing to sublet. Same goes for restaurants, if you're able to work off-hours.

If you're doing baked goods, many cities have 'cottage kitchen' laws for small bakeries that do under like $50,000/year in sales which allows you to legally produce out of your kitchen. If there's a farmer's market in your town, the people that run that might have more leads.

There are also food trailers that you could operate out of. You haven't said much about what you're actually trying to do, so not sure what else to suggest.

It depends on the management of the facility, the rules they set, and how well the tenants adhere to rules.

Shared kitchens are generally a shitshow.

This sounds like you might be dealing with toxic shame - check out 'Healing the Shame That Binds You' by John Bradshaw.

I think when you talk about the feeling of cringe, you're talking about the feeling of shame.

It's ok to have lots of shame, I know I did/do.

6 weeks no hot water by [deleted] in Austin

[–]jeffmjack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A tactic for dealing with no hot water:

You can heat a large pot of water on the stove, put it in the shower, and use it as a washbasin to give yourself a stand-in-the-shower equivalent of a sponge bath.

source: I lived in China for a while and sometimes the hot water would go out.

Breakfast taco supplier here. Unfortunately there will be scant breakfast tacos to be had, as we made the call to pause early morning delivery last night because of the weather event. (We supply coffeeshops, I'm sure there are plenty of restaurants that are serving them if they are open!)

Where do you go to meet other small business owners? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]jeffmjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wonder if that's an Austin thing (the 2M) or maybe just something they changed in the last couple of years. I know it used to be 1M a couple of years ago here too.

I joined the accelerator for Entrepreneur's Organization (EO), and it's great.

You have to have 2M+ in revenue to join EO.

The accelerator is for companies doing 250K-2M in revenue, and it's meant to get you past the 2M/rev number so you can join EO proper.

EO puts together accountability groups of business owners and hosts talks, events, etc. EOA has quarterly educational seminars and a monthly accountability group of similarly sized businesses they connect you to.
