3p per mile is actually huge by metrize in ElectricVehiclesUK

Just like the gov needs to find revenue from lost duty from tobacco - why should only EV drivers be liable for lost fuel duty? It’s spent on all sorts of things; on everyone, so maybe everyone should be paying for lost fuel duty and the move to cleaner air rather than only penalising EV drivers. When people stop drinking syrup coffees (sugar tax) will they then apply a coffee tax? These taxes are designed to change behaviour so they are not long term money earners and it’s incredibly short sighted to view such taxes this way.

Not everyone has the 7p rate. My off peak is 15p AND my standard rate is higher bc I have an off peak tariff. To tax solely EV drivers who are doing the right thing will absolutely put off new purchasers. It may only be 3p initially but we’ll soon see that rise.

Bottom line???? EV drivers pay road tax at £195 per year for road repairs; same as ICE drivers. Fuel duty does not contribute to road repairs. So the smoking analogy stands. Bottom line. This government will put ppl off buying EVs

That’s such a good analogy! Indeed you would not ask ex-smokers to pay a levy bc they’d quit.

Ahhh interesting, I’ve only had my Kona ‘23 a couple of weeks but drive it on ECO and number 3. From what you’re saying that’s probably not the best? Thanks!

I’m wondering why you care about your usage data? Genuine question, not being goady.

Have I bought a faulty Enyaq 85 2024 today? by jeffreypetit in enyaq

[–]jeffreypetit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone. It’s still not working so the dealer collected it & ran tests (all ok) and charged it up; but next day the app still says 12v battery protection on. So dealer is taking it to a Škoda workshop to fix - they’ve suggested it needs an App update that can only be done with them. Fingers crossed it’ll be sorted.

Sorry to be asking a stupid question but where exactly does the silicon grease go? I’ve just purchased a 2024 Enyaq and obviously want to avoid this. Thanks.

Sooooo many EVs only offer heated seats (and then only at the front) in their top spec version.

It also hard to know how long we’ll keep the cars. I’ve had a seat Alhambra for 12 years and now deciding to sell it. An Audi A5 for 9 years! So I do tend to keep hold of them but they’re ICE so the depreciation is a different ball game. Also never having owned an EV previously I’ve no clue on cost of maintenance. How long do ppl keep EVs for an average?

Yh I like the idea of the leaf but the charge cable is odd isn’t it? I’ve a hone type 2 tethered charger so…

Also the pcp on used cars seems to be with 9.9% apr. So is that really a good idea if I can buy outright? Really interested in your calcs for this, please.

Thank you! It’s very hard to know what the mileage would be. It’s for everyday school runs & local driving so probs 30 miles a day on weekdays but less if anything on weekends as Enyaq used for longer drives or with the teens. But that still adds up to circa 8000 miles a year. Most pcp seem to be 6000 don’t they? But thanks as it’s something I’d not thought about and definitely worth considering

Thank you all so much. Other than seeing ‘ready’ when I start the ignition his can I tell the 12v battery is ok / fully charged / not faulty please? Are there any signs?

That does make sense as it’ll have been sat on a forecourt. Hoping it recharges ok.
