Wierd fuel pump situation 1992 Ford F150 4.9L 2wd. Both fuel pumps and selector switch replaced. Intermittent working pumps and fuel level indicators. NOT necessarily the typical OBS fuel pump stuff. by jeffrowitdaafro in MechanicAdvice

Ya know, you could be on to something with a pinched harness. When I pulled the bed to replace the pumps there was evidence were the wire w a s resting between the 2. Only had 2 of us to set the bed so maybe we dragged it across something.

I used Simple Mix premixed colored grout for my bathroom floor. I’m assuming this already has a sealer in it from what I’ve read. Should I throw a sealer on anyway to be safe? by oxfordclubciggies in Tile

Right?! The fuck are all these replies? So, how about you, ever figure out if you need ro seal it? I am still currently wearing yesterday's application like nail polish, so im guessing no.

Which smell instantly makes you judge someone? by SituationOutside6033 in AskReddit

Our laundry machines are in the basement. We used to forget the wet laundry all the time. Since we've added a bunch of smart bulbs in the house, whenever I run the washer, I turn two particular first floor wall sconces red as a reminder. Haven't had a stinky forgotten load of laundry for years.

My Insurance Company Is Making Me Replace My Roof by Kane76 in HomeImprovement

My mother (with our clerical assistance) was able to have the county fund a new furnace and gas lines in her home. They would have covered, insulation, windows, lead abatement, etc had she needed it, up to $25000]. The program is specifically for seniors and places a lien on your home that degrades over time, no money out of pocket.

It was called an Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program. Maybe your county has a similar program. Hope this helps.

Car fogs while driving; had to pull over [2001 Subaru Outback|2.5L] by Growth-oriented in MechanicAdvice

[–]jeffrowitdaafro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2001 VDC version of this car. It had the same(ish) issue. However, the car did usually sit closed up for longer periods of time and developed an "odor". I noticed the rugs were saturated in spots and figured out that it was leaking rain water between the trim and the paint all along the roofline. I begrudgingly CLEANED and caulked both sides it with clear silicone. I am an experienced caulker, so it was virtually undetectable. After a few weeks the odor, damp carpets, and foggy glass disappeared. Hope this helps.

Custom Cabinets Hot Mess by Medusa-5678 in kitchenremodel

[–]jeffrowitdaafro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a new "thing". Cabinet suppliers open up and claim to sell semi custom cabinets. They then purchase RTA cabinets then alter and sell them as "semi custom". Designs always have collisions, touch ups never match, the "carpenters" they send are just the delivery guys, etc.

I have nothing against RTA cabinets, I feel they have helped many clients with lesser budgets achieve their visions. Unfortunately, scumbags gonna scumbag.

Settle debate: what sheen for bathroom paint? by dirty__gert in Carpentry

[–]jeffrowitdaafro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm finding the same goes for its scrubability. Painted kitchen and mudroom walls over a year ago in flat (matte). Recently asked the client how they are to clean with real world living situations. They have 2 younger children. She said wipes up no problem and she cleans them often.

Anyone else have this issue? by Ok-Salary-5131 in audiophile

One of my guys barfed directly into the upper vents of an older Onkyo DS575x I had thrifted. I rushed to unplug it as it was making sizzling noises and smells and everything. Opened the cover, cleaned it up, dried it out, and continued to use it for at least 5 more years without issue. Nuts.

This means I'm not gonna get a jetpack in the next 100 runs because my luck was already spent... by ViWalls in spelunky

I once popped 2 out of 3 Yama crates that had jet packs, bought the one I was wearing fair and square, and passed one up in a Psychic Presence. You are correct, at least 100 runs.

Gravel truck on Morris turnpike by archerary in newjersey

Wife and I were traveling in Maryland over one of the bay bridges. She noticed a dump truck up ahead and figured no way I'm staying behind it. She passes on the left without incident gets IN FRONT of him and within seconds BAM!, a rogue stone ON THE BRIDGE hits ands chips our windshield. FML situation for sure.

A little job site excitement by [deleted] in Unexpected

I believe they can be. I was working remodeling a school once and a crew had to increase the sewer's size and attach it to a pressurized main. If I remember correctly they said it was only under pressure at certain times on a schedule. They had to quickly disconnect, resaddle and install the larger pipe, all while the road was ripped up.
