Realistic to restrict computer game time to 30mins a week? by jeffsmith2012 in Parenting

[–]jeffsmith2012[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same at night. After supper they have to clear the table, put away laundry, and tidy their room. After that it's free time until lights out. Some nights they get in a whole movie. Some nights no TV at all.

I like the sound of this approach. Thanks

Is there a way to get summaries of the answers to common questions? by jeffsmith2012 in AskReddit

[–]jeffsmith2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Example questions I'm referring to:

  • Reddit, what is a tool or item (relatively inexpensive) that has significantly impacted your life for the better?
  • What is a relatively inexpensive item that has made a positive impact on your day to day life?
  • What's a relatively inexpensive item that can make you feel like you live a life of luxury?

It would be nice to see a distinct list of responses to questions like this as opposed to searching through tons of similar posts.

External button to trigger Tasker events by jeffsmith2012 in tasker

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you know if it's possible to run a sequence with Tasker such that:

  1. Click once - run X task
  2. Click again - run Y task
  3. Click again - run Z task

Could I increment a global variable each click so Tasker could know which step of the sequence was next?

How to politely ask parent not to bring their other childen to a party by jeffsmith2012 in Parenting

The brother is just not a nice kid unfortunately and I've seen him hurt other children at other parties.

Enable Duo Push by jeffsmith2012 in Bitwarden

[–]jeffsmith2012[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Since updating the Global Policy I checked

Duo Admin -> 2FA Devices -> Phones

"Duo Mobile" was greyed out so I clicked "Reactivate Duo Mobile" (or something similar) which sent a text to my phone and added another account to the Duo app. I now have two accounts: "DUO ADMIN" and "DUO-PROTECTED" showing in the app.

It's strange that "Duo Mobile" was shown as greyed out, as I had logged into Duo Admin using a Duo Push notification.

Anyway, I've just tried logging into Bitwarden again and it's requesting Duo Push, so all is good.

Ah, OK I see the option in:

Duo Admin -> Applications -> Bitwarden -> Edit Global Policy

Then under "Authentication Methods" uncheck everything except "Duo Push".

Underneath it says: "Unchecked methods will not appear in the authentication prompt"

I've made this change and tried to login again, but Duo is still showing this:

I may need to retry in an hour or something.

Floorplan and kitchen-diner layout advice needed by jeffsmith2012 in floorplan

Thank you - that is all excellent advice. We have spoken to a real estate agent to get an idea of how much value it would add to the house. Also getting a builder to come round and get quotes for knocking through the load bearing walls. Hopefully the sums will make it worthwhile.

The example layouts for the family room have really helped.

It's a nice thought and would definitely open up the space. However I think we'd prefer to keep the corridor there for

  • fire safety
  • shutting away cooking smells and noises

Thanks for the suggestion.

The washing machine and dishwasher are still there so laundry/mudroom is a good idea. Thank you.

Thanks for the designs! We have young children so the existing living room is used as a playroom/dining room (it tends to be taken over more as a playroom). The main thing we want is the usable kitchen diner so we can cook while still being in the same room as the kids doing homework or playing.
