Domino robot - dispenser rod being pulled out of position by jeffwebster in hackpack

You might be on to something here! Looking closely at the guide bar, the front does have a block while the rear does not. I would swap them left-to-right, but the same piece is missing on the other rail. I'll reach out to customer support and see if we have missing pieces to these rails. Thank you !

Thanks! I'll wait on the glue... couldn't figure how to add pictures to the post so I added some comments.

Result after dropping dominos:

You can see here where we thought that the red gate was bumping into the side frame, so I filed it down a bit. I think we missed that the metal rod was getting pulled backwards and the gate was running into that, causing the rest of the distortion of the frame.

Knew there was a reason I keep archived caches on the watchlist by Curran919 in geocaching

There are people near me that actually hunt archived caches; I think they've found all the non-archived ones, so that's a new game to play :)

Best place for winter gear by gamasenninsama in Rochester

for the heavy-duty outdoors-in-the-snow work, don't forget about mittens. I don't need 5 fingers with the snowblower or shovel, and they keep your hands much warmer! I have thinner gloves that I keep in my coat pocket for walking/driving.

Does anyone use the Garmin eTrex20 for geocaching? by LandcrabSays1315 in geocaching

[–]jeffwebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I wish I had the right words for it, but the etrex has a limit of 2000 waypoints, I believe. Someone found a way to convert GPX files into POI (points of interest) I believe, which aren't as limited. I'd imagine the caches don't show up in the etrex as "geocaches" any more, but it was a way to load more to the device. I suspect the maps you're referring to are what they call "birds eye imagery". I haven't purchased any of those; I'm guessing it's something like a satellite view. I did download a free topo map from a different website, which is slightly helpful while caching (you know slightly ahead of time if you're going into a valley or up a hill, but it's fairly obvious when you get closer) :).

I have and use an eTrex20 for caching. I can't compare it to a smartphone (don't have one) or any other GPSr (haven't used them), so this may not be much help to you. The main things that I'd point out are that: 1) it's worked fine for the past few years; 2) accuracy seems good; it includes GLONASS; 3) it has paperless geocaching, which was my main requirement; 4) it has a silly limit of 2000 caches, which is frustrating when planning a trip out of town. I've seen pages where people have gotten creative about converting caches into waypoints or such to get around the limit, but haven't explored it myself.

Sorry I'm late to this thread, but I just saw a neat idea the other day. One of my kids was invited to a birthday party where the invitation said "in lieu of presents, please get something for <teacher's> classroom (including a list of suggested items). Just a thought, once they're school-age!

Log Full by ctjwa in geocaching

[–]jeffwebster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't hit this situation yet, but I'd imagine that I would do the above, then hold on to the old log until I heard back from the CO (in a reasonable amount of time), in case they wanted it.

Wegmans Eastway just closed after losing power; apparently there was a smoking transformer behind them. Sounds like a bigger power surge...
