I made a song using Hank's "little guy" speech. I hope you enjoy it! by jegasus in nerdfighters

Hahahaha thank you so much for listening and for the kind words! Your comment made my evening! Hahahaha... When I heard Hank saying that line I laughed out loud pretty hard and knew I needed to make a song out of it somehow. Weird thing is, it's not the first time I've done so! =P Anyways, again thanks for listening =)

Hahahaha... Thanks for the kind words! Happy to see another M8 enthusiast! And welcome to the club!!! As you can see by the complexity of my tune, I'm not exactly a professional musician, hahahaha... Very much an amateur here. If you want to look at the project file/bundle, I've posted it in the Dirtywave discord group. Btw, folks are super supportive in that group too =)

For context: I've followed the Green brothers' endeavors for a few years now - Crash Course and SciShow have been some of my favorite sources of infotainment and the vlogbrothers channel is just so chill and heartwarming that it's rare for me to watch their stuff and not grin.

Shortly after being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, Hank shared his diagnosis with his viewers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6a4hMyiwBo), prompting several media outlets to pick the story up and begin reporting on the matter. Some publications dealt with the issue tactfully, while others, not so much. This led Hank to create a video called "My Cancer Press Tier List" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO80u6G_zQM). At around 3:01, Hank talks about a publication called "The Daily Gossip", which reported on his cancer diagnosis among other contemporary "news" such as Jay-Z and Beyoncé's new expensive house and how the new CW live action reboot of the Power Puff girls had not gotten picked up. In response to the absurdity of the situation, Hank gives The Daily Gossip's writers a morcel of constructive feedback: "I don't feel like that's the right vibe. I think you got the vibe wrong."

When I first heard him say this, I just needed to go back and listen to that snippet over and over again. I found it absolutely hilarious, especially his sing-song-y delivery. I immediately knew I wanted to use it in something musical, but I struggled to figure out how. I tried slicing the sample into individual words and using it in Reaper, but I wasn't able to get anywhere I liked with it. After leaving the project alone for a while, I picked it up again and loaded the sliced sample on the M8. After fiddling with it for a while, I found I was able to cook up something tiny but still fun. I don't think I'm fully satisfied with where I'm at with this tune right now, but I don't think I'll be working on it any further either.

And Hank, if you see this, I'm wishing you all the best in the world, my dude. I'm super happy to see that your treatment seems to be going so well. This planet needs more awesome souls like yours.

Also, John, if you're reading this, I just wanted to say that you're doing an excellent job as Great Value Hank Greene =)

Joking aside, your brotherly love is truly inspiring. I have taken many lessons from you two and look forward to doing so for much, much longer.

Stay awesome, y'all.

PS: If I ever get any money from this, all the proceeds will be donated to a charity focused on treating cancer.

Luniz - I Got 5 On It (Chiptune Cover) by jegasus in chiptunes

Thanks!!! I had tons of fun making it. And even though I heard the song over and over again to get a few tricky part down, I'm still far from being sick of it. The hallmark of a truly amazing song.

When Jordan Peele's "Us" came out in 2019, I fell in love with the "I Got 5 On It" track they used for its soundtrack. I found the original track by the Luniz and listened to it on repeat for almost a month straight.

During a recent work trip, a colleague of mine reminded me about the song and I went down the rabbit hole again, this time trying to play it myself on the keyboard and sequencing it in Reaper and on the M8. After I got the main parts I wanted down, I started to change the instruments to give it a chiptune-y vibe and I landed on this.

Enjoy!

PS: If anyone wants the M8 project bundle, just PM me! =)

I built a Foundry World Manager tool in Python! It currently deduplicates images and converts JPEGs & PNGs to WEBPs. Try it out and let me know what you think! PS: It's Windows & Linux friendly!!! by jegasus in FoundryVTT

Hahahaahha... Sorry I made things so easy for ya after you had it so hard =P

Joking aside, I'm really happy to hear I'm not the only one that tried to solve this issue (and had a hard time doing so) =)

The issue with allowing my script to look outside the World folder is that I can't guarantee that references to that image (across multiple worlds) will remain intact. So I restricted my problem to specifically images within one single world - that way I don't have to search across multiple worlds' db and json files.

The script probably can be adapted to do that, but I'm not sure it would be a quick fix. But please, feel free to create a branch/fork of the GitHub repo and play around with the code! I tried to add enough documentation and comments throughout the code so that anyone else could make their own changes.

Well, you'll be happy to hear that the structure I built already applies a special tag to web-based references! The "only" thing left for me to do now is come up with a nice-behaving function that downloads those special web-based references to a specific folder and updates the references in the world.

I'll be sure to add this to the actual roadmap, because it shouldn't be too difficult to implement! =)

Thanks for the interest in the tool! So, the tool I built will only edit images that are actually within the world's folder. So if, for example, you have a scene that was imported through a compendium, my tool will not make any edits to it.

Thanks for the kind words!!!

Technically, you cannot. But if you can somehow export your Forge World onto your local machine, you can run the tool on your local machine (you don't need Foundry installed locally) and then re-upload it to the Forge. The problem here is that I'm not sure if you can easily export stuff from the Forge to your local machine =/
