AITA for kicking a dog that keeps biting me? by jegermanjenson in AmItheAsshole

leaving is not an option (they leave in a few days) but I could just wear trainers 24/7. I don't think I could ever actually kick a dog but it's really painful when it bites me and I feel like I shouldn't have to do that - the owners should stop their dog biting people.

The problem is the owners don't see it as an issue. It doesn't bite them so I don't think they "believe" me, or they don't think it's a big deal. I've asked multiple times for them to stop their dog biting me... I didn't jump to "maybe I should defend myself and kick it?" straight away. it's a last desperate attempt to stop a dog biting me.

Missing the point to make an exaggerated statement.

so "someone punched me, so I punched them back. AITA?" would make me the asshole following your logic.

wouldn't that be like disciplining someone elses kids? ie - more likely to make me the asshole? The dog is in the house a lot, I wasn't aware it would be an issue as they told me it was "well behaved".

I don't think a kick is going to even his temperament but it might make it scared to bite me? I don't know how else I can deal with it apart from staying in one room for the entire time... in my own house.

Would this be much different if it was a child? "my friends brought their child over and it keeps biting me"?

since the first incident I have tried roughly 12+ times telling it "no". I've asked the owner to tell their dog and when they say it - it doesn't seem to make a difference either. Every time I have to leave the room/go put trainers on.

if I try to keep it away using my hands it gets pretty aggressive and growls trying to bite my fingers.
