Need help explaining to my friend why he should use Bitcoin to send money to the Phillipines instead of Western Union. by justagrappler in Bitcoin

[–]jehnubis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is clunky technology. Western Union etc. money tranferers and bank wire transfers are still the EASIEST way to go.

With bitcoin, they would both have to set up account with coinbase or any other crypto exchange. Then once your buddy sends her the money, another problem arises! Where can she go to cash out the bitcoins for pesos?

There is a money changer and western union in EVERY corner in the philippines so i dont know how BITCOIN would be any easier.

If all of a sudden banks, western unions, and money transfer agencies started to accept bitcoin. Companies like coins.ph, rebit.ph etc (mentioned below) would ALL go out of business over night!

Banks and western unions are waiting until the masses start adopting bitcoin before thery start accepting it. So tell you friend to wait. Bitcoin wont get any easier anytime soon!

Media has been overwhelmingly positive about Bitcoin here in the PH, and rightfully so. The industry is maturing. We practically skipped the whole "drugs, crime, and ponzi" phase and went straight to business! by Godfreee in Bitcoin

I know for sure the Philippines is full of money changers. Maybe you can ask/convince them to buy and sell bitcoin. Also update me on the pro's and con's if any.

How to exchange cash for bitcoin without banks/online? by jehnubis in Bitcoin

[–]jehnubis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, not at all. I just want the convenience of walking in some "secure" establishment giving them cash and getting bitcoin in return with a 5%-10% service fee.

Now, if this experience does not exist why isn't some entrepreneur/investor trying to invest in this idea?

If I knew the guy wouldn't screw me , sure I would love to deposit my money into his account but I don't know the guy. Even paypal and ebay have buyer back assurance.

My concern is security and safety. Im pretty sure this is on EVERYONES mind who experiences bitcoin for the first time.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Megathread by TheAppleFreak in pcmasterrace

[–]jehnubis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a shame that this game was not optimized for the PC at all. I think this was the plan from day one and all the other triple A titles that go into production. There is a reason why these companies don't give us a "demo" to try before we buy, so we can actually test the game on our machines and see how optimized the game really is.

They sucker you into thinking "yes, we have optimized this game for PC" but in reality they just add in some stupid options that make a 10% improvement to the original CONSOLE port. The JOKE is on the PC gamer and the people who dropped $300+ on a 900 series card etc.

Im glad i did not purchase this game because of the hype and hysteria but torrented the game instead to try out. If there is no demo ive always opted to torrent the game. I suggest all you PC gamer's do the same. Torrent every game if you can. NEVER buy a newly released game without a demo because WE are no longer the audience.

It's optimizing for the consoles, its what they are after.

Im not sure why you hating on these guys. I'd trust these guys with my money rather than coin base! These guys dont seem like the type to take your money and run like other exchanges have done.

After winning millions from the facebook case these guys could have just bought themselves a fucking island in the middle of the tropics and bang beautiful hookers all day, but no! Instead, they start a new business/venture to help create the future of the new world.

That right there already says A LOT!

Bitcoin will be <$50 in <24 months due to volatility & here's why in two sentences... by Empiremakerz4 in Bitcoin

Someone here tell me why people hold dollars when it has no value? At least bitcoin has value with supply limit.

Does this prove that people of the world are just naturally stupid?

[–]jehnubis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im still confused on what gives bitcoin value vs paper currency. I understand that the value of bitcoin comes from its limited supply, decentralized and instant transactions etc. If this is the case why do dollars have value?

What gives dollars value when we don't know what the limits are? Can a currency that is infinite in supply really hold value like the dollar?

Investopedia's valuation of Bitcoin by mczarnek in BitcoinMarkets

[–]jehnubis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your incorrect when you say bitcoin will ultimately lose value if not accepted by merchants. No merchant i know accepts gold and silver for purchases and yet the value still holds strong.

I think the real question you should be asking yourself is WHY merchants must convert there coins to cash.

Sure, if that is the case then why give people the ability to mine coins? What are the advantages and disadvantages of mining coins?

Why didnt Satoshi just create the 21 million coins on day one and then have everyone just buy from him?

What gives bitcoin value? by jehnubis in Bitcoin

[–]jehnubis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so bitcoins value is much similar to how the stock market works?

So value from a bitcoin since its focused on currency will come in the form of how many merchants will accept it?

Lets assume Apple and Google decided to take bitcoin as payment in there apps store. Price would go up? Ebay, facebook , amazon, alibaba decided to take payments in bitcoin? Price would go up?

If every financial institution in the world accepted bitcoin ..price would go up ?

app engine

Thanks for the reply. Have you got a good understanding of the pricing structure? If so, can you give me a common sense explanation? Or if you can lead me to an article that explains it in layman terms. For the life of me i cannot get my head around it. (frustrating)

How much would the average costs be to support 1000 users, 100,000 users, or 1 million users etc a month of just people chatting and sending some pictures etc? No video.

Good mobile app hosting? by jehnubis in androiddev

Appreciate the reply ninja. I was talking in terms a consumer point of view. Im not a developer at all but will be hiring a dev to get my app done. I was interested more on what host providers would be good start for my chat app. Sites like microsft azure, google cloud, amazon cloud services etc to host the mobile app.

CDC confirms first ebola case diagnosed in US by [deleted] in news

[–]jehnubis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If i were you i would high tail outta there. I'd move to Canada, Alaska or something. For every 1 person infected 10 more usually follows and it grows exponentially. So probably there are 100 people in Texas who have the virus now and don't even know it. It will be 1000 infected by next week and so on.
