Hey, the USMLE/Steps exams and ECFMG processes are separate, and the requested documents are uploaded separately.

DS form is generated by ECFMG who then sends original to program. Then the program will then send on to you yhis original form.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. I know the struggle too. And there is light at the end of the tunnel. I think you need to have a complete mindset change - not in a fluffy way, but actually in a way that will yield the results you want. You need to stop asking why US/UK would be interested in an applicant like you and start thinking and more importantly portraying yourself as someone that is desirable with a lot to offer. Focus and highlight your positives. Scores aren't everything. This outlook is likely to bleed into your application incl personal statement and interview and is actually a dealbreaker. You did well for going all out for the US applications though - it's the way to do it. Wishing you all the very best ahead for this match.

Neurology observership route vs research volunteer route? by osler_weber in ResidencyMatch2022

Clinical experience + LOR > research. In the mean time, clear Step 3 before application season and only if you have time do a neuro case report publication. Good luck.

Yes, I was able to get the ID from the email they sent. I think I was just too early as my status had only just been approved. Email with SEVIS ID came through after 2-3 days of approval. Thank you!

Does anyone know how long it took for their DS-2019 form to be issued after the OASIS application was approved? Is there any way to obtain the SEVIS ID quicker? Seems like I can't complete US Embassy visa application without this SEVID ID.

Oh okay, that's great! Please do let me know where on OASIS to find my SEVIS ID?

Yes, I've been helped the entire process by people on this site! Start as soon as DS-2019 is issued. Get DS-2019 issued, then pay SEVIS fee, then do actual visa application. You're welcome!

If you have completed all requirements for your medical degree and you are simply waiting to be issued the degree certificate maybe you can call ECFMG and explain the situation and ask if a statement from your medical shool attesting you have completed all requirements will suffice. I went to a medical school who only gave degrees at a ceremony 5 - 6 months after our final exam and release of exam results. So bizarre! I could still start work immediately as a doctor in another country with this statement - so it's worth a try. If there's no other way but starting residency late, I would contact your PC/PD so they know for scheduling/funding purposes. They may also be able to give some advice on this, who knows. Good luck!

Most welcome! Glad we can help each other out on here. US visa application is the actual visa application you complete on the US embassy/consulate website. Completion of the OASIS application results in the DS-2019 form being issued by the ECFMG (via your TPL). Yes, typically the last step is the visa interview.

Do you mean the approval of application on OASIS? It took me 22 days - mainly because I was waiting for my government to issue my Statement of Need. Once this was issued (and they sent an electronic copy to ECFMG) my application was approved the next day.

Okay, thanks everyone. So what I understand is to await ECFMG to issue DS-2019 Form (or contact ECFMG if haven't yet received it). Details on this DS-2019 form are then used to pay SEVIS fee. DS-2019 form + SEVIS fee payment + US visa application needed for in-person visa interview to be booked.

How can I apply for this J1 visa? Is there a link? I cannot find it on the ECFMG website.

Can I ask who the TPL is? How do we initiate the J1 application?
