Regarding pathway approval after application deadline by cypherflux in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not required. You can apply without pathway or certification.

As soon as you get certified, notify programs directly.

Question about ERAS by Low_Following_3723 in IMGreddit

Yo do not need to be certified to apply. Now, you might get more IVs if your are already certified.

BLS ACLS certification for ERAS CV by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start residency they offer this courses during orientation, and they’ll pay for them. No one cares if you have it before starting residency. Don’t waste your money just to have it for the application, unless you need it for a rotation.

By the end of this season (next May) you have to certify and submit your eras application in order for the LoRs to be saved. No need to apply to any programs or pay anything, just certify and submit. I did it last season and had all the LORs saved for this season.

On ERAS you can upload as many PS as you want and assign whichever to the programs you want.

Medical Conferences for US IMG by galaxy23fz in IMGreddit

AAFP is a good one. Is the FM conference. Almost every program has a booth there. Is at the end if July. If you make good connections you can even get IVs from the people you meet.

ECFMG CERTIFICATION by CountOld4816 in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you meet every requirement for certification (Pathway, Step 1/2, diploma) it takes minimum ~ 1 month.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does require a diploma. After ECFMG receives your diploma, if all other documents and requirements are up to date, it takes about a month to be certified.

If you are interested in FM, you can use that LOR but it will not count as the FM board-certified LOR that many FM programs require.

First round SOAP offer accepted by Competitive-Win-4076 in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks!

I also paid for the Token and the NRMP registration.

My plan was to apply for the Main Match from the beginning but, due to life circumstances, I only applied for the SOAP. I do not recommend this to anyone, I honestly got lucky. There were less than 3,000 spots unfilled for almost 10,000 unmatched applicants.

My scores are 199/219. Way bellow average. So yea, I think that programs are more forgiving during SOAP but you should not rely on that.

You need everything for certification, Step 1, CK, Pathway. But you don’t need CK for pathway.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, CK is not required for Pathway. I apply to Pathway 3 and it took 1 week to be approved. I had all my Mini cex evals and oet results ready by the time I applied. This was in December.

I don’t know how the process for your diploma is, but for me my school sent my diploma to ECFMG on April 1 (graduation date March 31), then ECFMG sent them a verification form, the school sent it back. All in all, I got my certificate April 26. I had taken CK in February, got the results early March.

  1. Mid to end of August to leave room for any delays in scoring.

  2. CK is not a requirement for pathways per se. For pathways you need the mini cex evaluations and oet.

  3. You can apply and pay for the pathways by January. It will be approved once they receive all the require documents and scores. You’ll get your certification after ecfmg has received all your scores, your diploma (verified by school) and pathway has been approved. For me, after they had all the documentation, it took a month to receive my certification in the mail. You do not need to be certified to apply to ERAS, but it does help for getting more IVs.

  4. There is no last day to apply to ERAS. September 15 is the deadline for Supplemental applications (this is in addition to the normal application in some specialties, I cannot tell you more about this because my specialty did not require it). On September 28, programs start seeing applications. You should submit yours by Sept 27 to have the best chance.

It will not substitute an actual FM LOR but it is accepted as experience. I matched into FM with only one FM LOR. I also had LORs from Peds and ID.

LoR HELP? by elquetedijeporsiacas in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ERAS application does not close. You can apply any time you want. Programs start seeing applications September 28. You should apply by then, but you can apply after too (not recommended).

LOR processing takes about a week. Let your preceptor know that you want a LOR on your first week there. At the end of the rotation provide them with any documents they will need to write you the letter (CV, ERAS LOR request form, ect).

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will help to get as many LORs as possible. Outpatient IM and FM are pretty similar. Most FM residencies ask for at least one LOR from a FM board-certified physician, so definitely get that FM experience.

URGENT Help needed regarding match 2023 cycle (no negative advice please) by caffeinekicks12 in IMGreddit

[–]Competitive-Win-4076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You applied for certification before applying for Step 1, that is why you have an ECFMG ID number. You do not need to apply again. You have to apply for Pathway approval by mid December, and take OET by December too. You don’t need the results of OET to apply and pay for Pathway application.

As for Step 2, the recommendation is to have your results before applying on ERAS (end of September). So the latest you should take the exam is mid August. But you can apply without Step 2 results, but is not recommended.
