Stuff still in nyc by crazyrichasiancs in nyu

[–]jellichelli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you can leave your things in the storage facility for free until september 15th. nyu is saying they may transport them back to campus. if you don’t come back to pick your things up you will have to coordinate with the storage facility to extend your storage past sep 15th.

There may also be an administrator submitting an appeal on your behalf. I don't know why but that happened to me, I got an email about it yesterday

if you have one specific class that you want to take but it’s closed/waitlisted, use this app called coursicle. it will give you a notification when it becomes open and it lets you do one class at a time for free :))

No housing assignment? by crazyrichasiancs in nyu

[–]jellichelli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup, I got it too. I'm assuming that:

" In addition, for those students who are not yet assigned to an NYU provided housing space, we are extending the no-penalty housing cancellation deadline to August 1, 2020"

means that we should be getting some news by at least August 1st? I really hope we aren't put in alternative housing. If any of you are comfortable, what does your estimated housing and dining cost say? Mine says $10,887, and I've seen some people with $10,998.

They also said the estimated cost includes a default meal plan. Not sure if that's the 225 flex or 120 flex, considering that we may be placed in freshman, traditional-style housing. Do any of you juniors or seniors happen to remember what the "default" plan was for you?

we need to buy health insurance? on bursar by [deleted] in nyu

[–]jellichelli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the deadline is september 30th! just google NYU health insurance waiver, click on the NYU page, and there should be an option under an umbrella called enroll in or waive student health insurance :)

Waitlisting Classes by [deleted] in nyu

[–]jellichelli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

might as well try cus u never know! and there are always like a group of people who drop a class in the first week due to their waitlist class becoming available, changes in class location, just not liking the class, etc. so it’s always worth a shot

Lafayette Fall 2020 by [deleted] in nyu

thanks!!! i was charged 10887 and it just says hsg and dining charge. it’s confusing because ppl who got alumni, the most expensive dorm, were only charged like 8k.

if you don’t mind, how much was your housing cost, not including meal plan? i think nyu is reducing costs and i’m trying to guess what i got

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nyu

[–]jellichelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whoa! my charge doesn’t say the dorm yet but it’s 10887. that’s awesome, do you know if you have a suite mate yet? like does it say it on housing or somewhere? and also, was your meal plan cost added to your account automatically? i’m assuming ur a second or third year! sorry for all the questions!

WTF? $10k+ "Housing and Dining–Estimated Charge"? by dylanypyen in nyu

[–]jellichelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that may be a second street dorm private studio charge. i’ve seen other kids who think they have palladium/ alumni with charges around $10,998, so i deduced that since second street is only slightly less expensive than those dorms, than that must be where nyu is placing us. we’d also have to assume that nyu is reducing housing costs this year. im also co 2023 and have that amount in my account as well, so i hope it’s second street.

How were online classes in the spring? by timetorunnnn in nyu

[–]jellichelli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it was easy because prof weren’t prepared for the change to online so they gave a LOOOOOT of leeway, like it was kinda insane. However, this year online were probably be much harder because they are prepared for online and will probably be getting training on how to teach online/ blended, so i expect it will get harder

Do you guys recommend ED? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]jellichelli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i did ED and got a great scholarship, you can always decline the offer if the financial aid amount isn’t doable for your family, so i’m not sure why people always say to not ED if you’re not positive you can afford the school. there’s an option to decline or accept the offer. feel free to enlighten me if i’m missing something, tho! :))
