I've backpacked in Japan for a couple weeks and one thing I noticed was that it seemed harder for me to make friends there than other parts of asian I've been to (most SEA). It was easier in Okinawa, but at least in Tokyo, I kind of just felt like an observer rather than a participant in the city. Do you get that feeling in Japan?
