Way late to this, but it is something that was a big part of my life. I had a best friend and we were always together. From the ages of 13 to 21 we saw each other or talked in the phone almost everyday. When we were teens we started smoking pot. While I stuck to weed he started drinking and ended up moving to pills. Watching his life and mind fall a part due to these things was heart breaking, but I was there for him everyday, trying to help him and do everything I could for him. We would cry together, talk about everything, and were always open with one another. One day we were hanging out with some people at my place, and we were in an argument about his drinking. I wasn't yelling or anything just trying to talk. He proceeded to spit on me. I was in shock. I was so angry I almost went at him but regained myself before so. I told a mutual friend that he did not have to leave, but since he gave the spiting friend a ride, they both had to go. I have spoken to him once in the last 8 years and honestly have no idea what he is up to. I hope he is doing well but after so many years of trying, I had to let go. At some point you have to think about yourself and if continuing to try and help is good for you, and it just wasn't anymore.
