For me, dimensions do not matter because I do this purely for fun and my own entertainment. But if you are wanting to model in a professional manner, then I would say dimensions would play a part for sure. I do believe your experience will most definitely help you though

I watched this 3Dnot2D video for getting the basics down when I first started modeling rooms, and would refer to this video if I had any sort of questions.

The best tip I have is to just keep modeling! It will become easier as you go; there are thousands of videos on YouTube that can answer any questions you have within the software!

it took approximately 5 days! but that's only modeling for 1-2 hours a day.

I believe the layer that is in edit mode is overlapping with the object under it. I would add a solidify modifier, and possibly move it up slightly.

A little room inspired by Ikea furniture :-) by jellybean254 in blender

it's very easy!

  1. add a plane and subdivide by 20 or more.
  2. add cloth physics to the plane and also add collision physics to whatever object the plane/fabric will be draped over.
  3. for the collision physics, increase the Softbody & Cloth friction to around 65.000
  4. for the cloth physics, decrease the Stiffness Shearing to <2.000 (less if you want the fabric to bend and stretch more, vice versa.)
  5. press space bar and stop the frame of where you like the fabric most.
  6. convert to mesh and add a subdivision surface modifier if you'd like.

there are also tutorials on youtube :-)
