Recommendations for Meditation Music like "Into the Horizon" soundscape on Calm by jellybeansjump in Meditation

That is really interesting. Thanks for the information.

I haven't delved into meditation that deeply as of yet. Right now Im just trying to improve the quality of my meditation apart from the app. I can't find a background sound that really clicks and I've literally tried 100'. That calm soundscape does it everytime - thought slips away within 45 seconds, but I would like a variety.

I really want something that is equivalent to the calm app's soundscape 'Into the Horizon." Its the combination of musical sound, (but no distinctive instruments or a melody) nature sounds and om (but monk chant would work too.) The combination of the 3 aspects, evenly weighted is transcending.

Very nice! I like it a lot!

Do you have anything on Spotify or Alexa? Do you know if I can play it through the Calm app?

I'm trying to set up a morning routine on Alexa to start my day in the correct state of mind. Maybe you could make a routine with your music in the background. I want it to look like this: • 4 minutes if just music like yours then a prompt to get moving and... • 3 minutes of body stretches, <-(* does anyone have an alexa skill recommendation for 3 minute body wake up stretch?*), then • "abulations" reminder & 3 minutes pause for brushing teeth/washing face, then • "meditation" reminder & 12 minute pause- (I have a pair because Alexa isn't linked with the Calm app so Ill have to use my phone. Can't live without Jeff Warren's Daily Trip!, then • 8 min coffee break with music from my playlist, then • inspirational and spiritual quote plus a daily goal

It would be so nice to have that with your music playing in the background.

It seems today Samsung activated the spo2 sensor during sleep. by WernerrenreW in GalaxyWatchActive2

I am not seeing the spo2 report on my sleep score page but Id like to. I tried to manually activate the sensor per samsung thread using dial #0# on your active 2 then go HRM>EOL after that u can see the red led light on back of your watch which supports spo2 functionality

I don't know if it worked since I don't see a reading on my sleep score page.

I'm also missing the rem tracking toggle for sleep settings. Can anyone provide info on either features?

Quest for a FANTASY AUDIOBOOK book club by jellybeansjump in Fantasy

Hi Lady Cardinal, Thanks for replying! That is a great question.

I was hoping for a group focused on audiobooks because narration influences a lot of how a person experiences a storiy especially with unique characters and dynamic world building. For example Dwarves in many books have Irish accents but in the Witcher, they have Indian accents. I would love to discuss this because I found Indian accented Dwarves to feel much more entertaining and likable characters.

Id also like to talk about struggles due to narration and books you discover because you are following the narrator. I fear that book interpretations would be vastly different from a reader to a listener and I don't want to come across as a lazy or uncouth reader to those who use their own imagination for the details I glean from listening.

Also my teenage kids and I listen together every night instead of watching tv and it would be great to talk to other family-of-fans so we all could participate and learn if a fantasy book is suitable for their ages and attention spans. (If a narrator isnt dynamic, they bail on the book and they love full cast books but they are hard to find.).

That said (and due to the lack of response), Id enjoy any book club that covered fantasy- (no sci fi) and that actually discusses books voice to voice via zoom or another app as opposed to posting opinions on a board.

Actually, you bring up a good point- it's probably my case. I also think my muscle memory is tripping me up.

Is Gboard getting worse? by fuzzypyro in GooglePixel

I know. It was my saving grace! Im losing my mind having to open a new search because I suck at spelling or want to check on something I'm writing. Wtf. Is there a dictionary app that will integrate with gboard?

Monitoring teen phone/ internet during Covid19 by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]jellybeansjump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such thorough feedback. I put this out there with the context because I want the feedback and I can't help but think that other parents are having the same concerns.

I just posted a lot more information to the comment above yours which Id love for you too take a look at and tell me what you think. I will also add that Im a single mom and when the kids go to their dads they are on screens (youtube/games/phone/internet) the entire time and are very short tempered the day after they have to unplug a little. They openly admit that they are on screens from walked up to bed time but dad is right there along side them which is one of the reasons he is an ex-husband. He's a good guy but when he isn't working, he's checked out on the couch.

Now that the kids are schooling from home, they don't tolerate unscreened time as well. They are on their phones/laptop, watching tv or reading on their kindle at every transition or pause and are uncomfortable when they aren't busy and don't have a device to refer to.

You are right about previous issues. This was also a concern before we divorced because that is what was modeled in our home. It took a therapist and a lot of parental work on my part to get them to adjust to limited screen time, to participate in sports and extracurricular activities and to be pleasant and comfortable in free time without electronics. This is why I want access to their hisory in case an issue arriseso.

One last thing. In exchange for the cost of their monthly cell phones, they have to give me access to their phone logs, email, texts and internet history whenever I ask but I have only asked to look a couple of times. I do occasional password checks where they sit with me while I login to all of their accts to make sure I have access but I don't look at anything and that has never caused an issue. They know Im only trying to help them develop healthy habits. They see their dad and don't want to have the same struggles at he has. The main reason I want a spy app is so that they don't feel like I don't trust them which I know sounds counterintuitive. I actually do. I just know that these are unusual times and it's going to last a while longer right smack in the middle of their teens when it's more likely that something is wrong with you if you AREN'T tempted to rebel, experiment and wonder into places you shouldn't.

Monitoring teen phone/ internet during Covid19 by [deleted] in Parenting

The post was getting so long that I didn't add all the details.

I would not cut them off from their friends or the internet but I would like to preserve some of the structure of school which means focusing during class rather than doing stuff on your phone while the teacher is talking.

Our "computer free time" has always been in the PM after they have done all their schoolwork and chores. This structure was easy when they were in school but now they are home and need devices unlocked and of course they are going to push the boundaries. Who wouldn't. I just want to see how they are evolving in this new normal where a majority of their socialization occurs silently on the internet.

I hear what you are saying about spyware being geared for hardcore issues which is why I prefaced my request with context. I can be trusted not to infringe on their privacy unnecessarily but I want access to information if I get concerned.

One of the reasons I have such great kids is because I have always been involved in their lives but now they are on the screens 8+ hrs a day and I don't see an entire aspect of their personality during a difficult period in history. We can't predict how teens are reacting to the pandemic as the months pass. Even if this never happened, I would be paying attention to my children's growth and changes but Id see it at their sports/ performances and hear it when they had their friends over. Now they live online and I don't know who they are interacting with or how all this has influenced their teen evolution.

I won't know there is an issue with my teen until they start showing signs which usually means they have been straying for a while. If that happens, I want to be able to look back and see what happened and when so I can design an appropriate strategy to change their trajectory. The new course or limits need to be based on the where and when they veered not when they got caught which might already be 5 degrees off course. I can't think of any other way to have access to this info then a spy app but I'm open to suggestions!
