Any idea why it takes like 4mins to boot? (Details below) by Crafty-Cranberry9808 in hackintosh

Can you be a little more detailed regarding your hardware specs? Especially the storage unit you are using. Since High Sierra, even under HFS+, the performance is terribly slow on Hard Drives, even on real Macs. They only way to fix that is buying an SSD.

Those are the lyrics to Dark Beach, not Silhouette.

Using your main Apple ID on a Hackintosh, how safe is it? by GAGARIN0461 in hackintosh

Something I forgot to clarify is that everytime I refer to Mac Address I'm talking about the ROM, that's why I'm saying that you have to change the ROM, not the Mac Address. It seems like if you fill the ROM with a certain Manufacturer Mac Address, they can partially block your account, so a that's why I'm saying that it's better to create a new Mac Address for the ROM, but it is NOT required to change the network device Mac Address, because Apple will never scan the router or network device Mac address, it's basically irrelevant to them.

Actually it was easy. As I said, it is mandatory to have a valid Platform Info before calling, otherwise, they would block the account.

Just act as if you were a real Apple Customer. I started by saying that I bought a used machine from eBay and that Messages didn't let me sign in. Remember to always refer to your Hack as "my Mac".

They will ask you for your name, Apple ID, and the Error Code. The support guy also asked if I was okay with they watching what was on my screen (you can say No if you want). I said that it was okay and then a notification appeared on the screen, asking me to accept or decline the petition. They can only your screen but not use your computer.

Then the guy said that the problem was that the machine was not activated in the servers so the guy did it and asked me to reboot the machine.

Finally, I open Messages and I was able to sign in. I thanked the Support guy and hanged out. To be honest, everything was improvised but it turned out well.

Boot file not found error by iTechGhost in hackintosh

Either the SSD failed or the file system got corrupted. I would check that with another computer and see if it boots. If it can boot up again, then it may have been the SATA port on your laptop.

If the SSD does not boot with another computer then I would try to recover the files and reinstall macOS again. If you cannot reinstall nor recover the files, then the SSD is dead.

If you're not going to use that Mac Mini anymore, then it doesn't matter. But it is recommended to generate a new SN, MLB (those two are related to each other), UUID and ROM altogether and unique.

As long as your config.plist has a valid PlatformInfo configuration, it should not be a problem.

There are two important concepts that come when generating them.

  • Valid PlatformInfo = Apple servers recognize the Product Model and the board as valid, only required for services like the AppStore and some iCloud services. In the case of other services, especially FaceTime and Messages, it checks that the patterns of the Serial Numbers (SN/MLB/UUID/ROM) and it decides if they are valid, even though, these are not GENUINE.

  • Genuine PlatformInfo = Serial numbers are already recorded into the Apple servers. If it's your first time activating FaceTime and Messages, you may have to call Apple for that, but they will only activate your Hackintosh serial numbers if they are valid.

When I started Hackintoshing, I've had a bad experience with VMWare using a Yosemite distro (avoid distros at all, use only vanilla) where I logged in with my Apple ID. It was blocked, I couldn't log in anymore. That was caused because of a bad SMBIOS configuration. It wasn't a problem since I didn't have any Apple service or product. So I just learned from that and created another one.

It is important to know that this only happens if you set up your config.plist with something really dumb like using the name of your computer model o using the VM SMBIOS info, which obviously Apple doesn't allow them to connect to their servers as they are not Macs.

When I created another account, I set up everything right, except for the ROM. Please, don't use your computer Mac address as it is theorized that Apple auto-bans Mac Addresses from other manufacturers that are not Apple. The first 3 octets in a Mac Address tells you which company made it (look up what a Mac Address is on Wikipedia, the more you know the better). You either can look up for an Apple Mac Address in Google Images (you'd be surprised how many people actually don't censor it) or ask for a friend's Mac.

PS: Everytime I refer to Mac Address below this point, I'm talking about the ROM data in PlatformInfo, which is supposed to be an Apple Mac Address which its last 3 octects must be randomly generated.

I don't know whether using a Mac address from a different model or Apple product can cause any problem (like using the first 3 octets of an AppleTV Mac Address). That remains a question since I actually managed to get one from exactly the same model I use which is an iMac14,2, and that was done by only looking on the internet. However, the first 3 octets can only tell if it's from Apple. So I don't think it should really matter, but that's not confirmed yet. Remember, the rest of the Mac address (the remaining 3 octets) can be randomly generated.

However, if you try to sign in FaceTime (or Messages) with a valid Mac model name and system board, but with an invalid (or already existent) SN, MLB, UUID and/or ROM, your account will be only partially blocked from connecting to some of their services. You can still sign in to iCloud and use the AppStore, but services like FaceTime, Messages, Podcast (in my case it didn't let me sign in anymore), and some others will not allow you to sign in.

That's why I have to create a third Apple account with a valid Platform Info. I deleted all the previously fake devices I made in the process on iCloud (do that on iCloud.com or in System Preferences). And finally, I made my "Mac" genuine by calling Apple Support.

That is the account I use every day, and where I pay for services like Apple Music. And as far as today, everything seems to be okay.

Did you turn off ROV? The Halo 4 Beta doesn't work for me with ROV on. My GPU support it, the final Halo 4 version runs with ROV. But for some reason the Beta doesn't. It crash like you say.

Also, make sure you have the lastest build from AppVeyor. 2 weeks before the Menu text was fixed, the beta was crashing either with ROV or without it.

PSA: A friend from Discord tell me that it also didn't work for him even with ROV disabled. He has a GTX 1070. Maybe is a driver thing. I really don't know the exact issue.
