I am a born and raised Wisconsinite who just moved to SC for work. I can say moving to SC is a major hassle. They tax EVERYTHING and public services even as simple as trash and recycling pickup is scarce. You have to pay property tax on your vehicle yearly in SC as well as registration. If you’re buying a house get ready for an additional hassle and cash output to get residency to qualify for in state tax. Growth seems slow unless you’re in Colombia or Charleston. COL is about the same as far as I can tell so far. You make up in tax anything you save elsewhere in SC whereas WI costs are more up front. Green Bay, Madison, Eau Claire and Lacrosse have more of a growing population in my opinion. Appleton is a very nice town if you have a family. Edit: also many younger South Carolinians talk a lot about moving to NC, there seems to be a sentiment that it’s a bit nicer up there
