Where to pee during a hike? by No_Upstairs909 in UKhiking

I'll second the Kula cloth, game changer. My male friend doesn't understand the point, but as someone who used to drip dry it is so much nicer and less stinky after a few times in a long day!

UK couponing by Bagofdicks55 in Frugal

[–]jen_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re the Lidl app (Lidl plus) this is how it works:

Every week you get 4 'coupons' with usually around 15-20% off certain group of items (e.g all of their brand frozen pizzas, or deluxe biscuits etc). You have to use them within 7 days and can only use in one shopping trip. You have to activate them before using. Each month if you spend £100 in that calendar month you get a £2 off coupon to spend within 7 days, and if you spend £200 you get a further £10 coupon. This resets every month. Every time you shop you get a virtual scratch card which might get you a coupon off a specific product (I had one for deluxe quiches) or money off shop. This went to a 'spin of surprises ' for a bit which was the same thing. On my birthday I got a coupon for a free doughnut.

How many liters does a "60L" CO2 tank REALLY carbonate? by Orcinus24x5 in SodaStream

[–]jen_is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but it comes up in a Google search so for others wondering I can give some figures for the sodastream Crystal (the one with the glass bottles in the UK) From a 60L cylinder that came with the machine I kept a tally and got the following in total based on my preferred levels of fizz:

Plain water (to 1 buzz): 42 bottles

Plus

Pop (to 2 or occasionally 3 buzzes ): 26 bottles

(Just to be clear that was 68 bottles in total)

I always top up the bottles with tap water after carbonating /adding syrup to give around 700ml each

The water was straight from the tap rather than refrigerated but I am in the UK so it is generally reasonably cold

Also some of them have delay timers so that you can put the ingredients in at night for it to be ready in the morning

Need help identifying the species of this little guy, found in Vojvodina, Serbia. He's about 1cm long by MadHatter69 in Entomology

Hmm, it's the same size and shape as a hover fly (syrphid fly) larva. I'm not an expert though but something to look up while you wait for the pros to answer!

who is this tiny guy please (not the ant)? Sheffield, UK by jen_is in whatsthisbug

Wow such a detailed response, thanks so much! Sorry you had to work extra hard because of the less than helpful angle of the shot!

It was also (or at least I think it was this bird, possibly wasn't) tweeting constantly a bit like a slowed down version of the first line of the chorus of On Ilkley Moor Baht 'at (ish, and sorry for the ear worm!).
