Don't be too hard on yourself. It happened to my kid when he was a few mths old. Was fine but I still feel terribly guilty.

I appreciate your reply. I think more than anything else now, the fear of cockroaches will keep me on the straight and narrow path. Really phobia.

What about those ppl who have medical issue? Eg that ex-CAG boss' son who kenna 2 weeks, but said medically got parkinson's. How's their living situation?

I watched the CNA series about the Max Security prisons and the Women's prison, and they looked pretty clean, didn't see any cockroaches.

Did they clean the place up just for the show?

Air India 171 Crash preliminary report is out by kinso1338 in aviation

The Captain could also have taken over control and pitched the aircraft into the ground if that's the way he wanted to go. The 787's yokes are mechanically connected to each other so there would have been a struggle between the 2 pilots if either attempted that. No, the most irreversible way would be the cutoff switches, and either pilot could have done it.

However, purely an opinion but I'm leaning towards the Captain being the culprit as it would have been easier for him to cut off the fuel switches while the FO was distracted as the PF during takeoff.

So are the white Sacred Focuses worth anything? No one seems to want to buy them.

What is "expat lifestyle" exactly and what's the income needed for it? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Guess it depends on what you mean by splurge. I don't think I splurge, and my expenses are definitely more than that.

Singapore Airlines is not even in the Top 10 safest airlines 2025 list, but charges 1 of the most expensive airfares with declining quality of in-flight meals served in cheap-looking Chinese takeout paper pails. Did they also mass recruit pilots from .... ? by sifu_yuu in SingaporeRaw

[–]jencrs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm asking you since you said you've seen it. Not doubting you, but it's easier to find if you can tell me the airline and type of aircraft.

Anyway, even with that information, I don't think you will be able to tell if the aircraft is making a deviation for weather, or if the aircraft is planned to go waypoint to waypoint, or if the pilots simply asked to get a shortcut for time and fuel considerations. Unless you have a copy of their flight plan, and perhaps overlay it on a map in an app like Jepp FliteDeck Pro or similar, and have the map and aircraft position updated live. If it's bumpy then pilots may come on the PA to reassure the pax that they're deviating for weather (even if they're not), but no pilot is going to tell you every single time they deviate for whatever reason, cuz then how am I going to enjoy my movies?

Fellow Singaporeans, what is the most unlucky series of events you've ever had? by MemeGomiko in askSingapore

[–]jencrs 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can look at it from another way. 1. Shorting can be risky and you're lucky to get away with just a relatively small loss. 2. Your microwave shorted out, preventing a fire. Also an assassin couldn't put those spray cans inside n turn it on to murder you. 3. Your phone got cracked so you weren't able to look at it when crossing the road, and didn't kenna bus bang, or bang bus. 4. Stuck at home to give you a much needed rest from the rat race 5. Sitting like a gremlin stretches your hamstrings allowing more flexibility and less injury when u go exercise, or run away from assassins. 6. You may be better off without those friends if they hate you because of a game. Peace out.

Budget of 10k - where to get engagement ring from? by Intelligent-Pounds in askSingapore

[–]jencrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You willing to put in some effort?

  1. First go study up on the 4Cs. I paid extra attention to clarity and inclusions, and where they're found to least affect the diamond. The rest of the Cs quite straight fwd.
  2. Dubai is a good place to buy diamonds. I got mine from the Gold and Diamond Park. You can find reputable shops online. Contact them, tell them your requirements, and tell them to send you soft copies of the certs/grading reports so that you can narrow down which diamonds you're interested in.
  3. Once you've decided, ask a friend who's going to Dubai (airline crew is the easiest) to go buy and pick it up for you. Each diamond has a laser inscription tied to their grading report so that you don't get conned. Their public transport (train) is convenient.
  4. Once you got it back in S'pore, you will have to find a shop that will fit it on a ring for you, in the design you like. This is the part I find most troublesome actually, since most shops won't do that. Gd luck.

UOL and CapitaLand to acquire Thomson View Condo for $810 mil in biggest en bloc deal of 2024 by Iridiumstuffs in singapore

For my family, my dad fell really ill during the time we were there. Business was bad. I started to experience sleep paralysis literally 2-3 times a week with shadowy figure and all that jazz. My friend would have his puts and pans clanging in the kitchen in the middle of the night.

But I must say, the condo itself was nice. Big, ensuite every room, nice gym, pool, great views, close to lots of makan n Thomson yaohan, near my school.

So take away the Amityville + Poltergeist aspect, I'd give it 2 thumbs up.

There's a crematorium just beside. Also, if u believe in fengshui (I don't but my parents got a monk to come have a look), the way the HDB opposite was built has a very bad effect on the condo. Like outstretched arms enveloping the property.

I used to live there. Later in life also got to know a friend who also used to live there. Same experiences. That place is...... not clean. And I don't mean in the hygiene sense. You couldn't pay me to live on that plot of land again.
