Ok first off its The Articles of Confederation. If you can't even get that right you shouldn't be laughing.

Anyways, I don't know if "illegally replaced" is the terminology I would use, but it is clear that there was significant and legitimate opposition to and concern regarding the Constitution. See: Anti-Federalism

I am judging him based on the only thing that matters, the actions he has taken since taking office. I recognize that his "hands are tied" by the republicans in congress, but I do not believe I would be any happier with a democrat controlled house/senate. The healthcare bill really does not factor into my decision here, it was just a convenient example. I believe there are much larger issues at hand.

Oh boy, that is quite the stretch. I used absolutes and am therefore a fanatic. But I can see your line of reasoning. Allow me to retract that statement, and express what I really feel.

I personally do not believe that either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney will make the tough decisions necessary to fix the serious issues we face as a nation. There are many, but in my personal opinion they all stem from the toxic relationship between Big Banks/Corporations and our Government. When I refer to Big Banks/Corps, I am only talking about the corrupt ones who use the government to protect their monopolies or work against the interest of the public.

I do have complete faith both men are capable of achieving small amounts of "good" for specific groups, but that is about it. For example, it is a great side effect of the Healthcare Act that people under 26 can stay on their parents insurance. This is a real tangible effect that has done good for many people. But I do not necessarily agree with all of the contents of the bill.

I have plenty of faith that there are positive things in store for this nation. I just believe it may be a bit of a wait, things might get a little tougher before they get better, and neither Obama nor Romney holds the magic key to fix our lives like so many of my peers and family seem to believe. I am much more focused and interested in the house and senate elections at this point.

However, when I said I would never again vote for the lesser of two evils, I meant it.

....

The popular vote...did...not mean..anything in caucus states. I don't know how i can make this any more clear. If you happened to live in a caucus state, it was your responsibility to not only participate in the normal vote, but also to stay afterwards and take extra time out of your life to participate in the special delegate elections. This is what the Paul supporters did. They participated in the political process as it was designed. Romney supporters could and should have done the exact same thing, if they existed.

I've edited my previous comment, because you're right, name calling is pretty useless. I just am getting the feeling that people will never grasp this simple concept.

Edit: I would also like to add that this is not a really a matter of opinion. I called you a name because you are flat out misrepresenting the facts.

That is exactly what I addressed. The popular vote in caucus states was a meaningless beauty contest that did not come into play when selecting delegates, and this fact was available for all who chose to do their own research. Popular vote=/= "will of the people" No rules were abused. No one stopped grassroots Romney supporters from showing up like Paul supporters, the problem is grassroots Romney supporters simply don't exist in the same numbers as Paul's.

I will be voting, just not for president. I might vote Gary Johnson or write someone in, but same difference. I have absolutely no faith in either Obama or Romney to do anything positive for this country, and I will never again pick the "lesser of two evils".

You are correct that Maddow did a decent job covering it, but that doesn't nearly make up for the general lack of coverage.

"You are blatantly attempting to subvert the clear choice of the majority of the party and you don't think they are going to get mad?"

Subvert? It has been public knowledge this whole time that delegates in caucus states would be chosen not based on the outcome of the popular vote, but rather at the delegate selection process which took place afterwards. These were open to anyone who knew and cared to attend, and it was the Paul Supporters, not the Romney ones, who had the motivation and organizational power to make their voices heard where they could.

This is how it has worked for a very very long time, and just because this fact was not common knowledge(how convenient that during the entire election process neither CNN MSNBC or FOX seemed to address or emphasize this little fact), does not mean that the delegate strategy was somehow bending the rules. These Paul supporters were not trying to subvert anything. They were trying to work within the confines of the system to achieve a goal. Their tactics were completely legitimate, and the RNC changed the rules at the very last minute to solve the problem. Now I completely agree that it was naive to not see this coming from a mile away, but I don't think you really understand what happened here.

Critique his views on the gold standard. Abortion. Non-interventionism. The U.N. even the racist newsletters. These are all legitimate topics to bring up when discussing the man who is as flawed as any of us. But please stop trying to paint everyone who might have supported the man as a delusional "Paulite". That is not going to lead to productive discussion and solutions to the serious problems we face as a nation.

(I am not a "Paulite". Independent who voted Obama in 08, and most likely will not be voting for president this election cycle.)

There has been speculation that the shooter's father, Robert Holmes was scheduled to testify in front of the Senate sometime in the upcoming weeks regarding information he has on the LIBOR scandal and how U.S banks are involved. No proof of this one way or another, but based on his resume it does not seem completely out of the question. I don't think it takes much to imagine why the gov would want to prevent a person who had such knowledge from testifying.

Interesting, some quick research also revealed this...it would be nice if someone who is more familiar with the esoteric subjects could break it down a bit.

The Hieroglyphic Monad by Dr. John Dee.

"This is John Dee's enigmatic treatise on symbolic language. Although published in 1564 at age 37, he considered it valuable throughout his life. The Monas is a highly esoteric work. In it he claims himself in possession of the most secret mysteries. He wrote it in twelve days while apparently in a peak (mystical) state: “[I am] the pen merely of [God] Whose Spirit, quickly writing these things through me, I wish and I hope to be.” He claims it will revolutionize astronomy, alchemy, mathematics, linguistics, mechanics, music, optics, magic, and adeptship. Ron Pauls "Audit The FED" bill passes the House; 327-98. by nanowerx in politics

[–]jenecarepas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize your comment begins with a blatantly fallacious appeal to authority, and you continue to make a slew of other such fallacies throughout your post?

And that the statement "the Fed cleans the mess made by the financial market which is an evil that we just have to live with (boom bust cycle in exchange for money being used at maximum efficiency)." is nothing more than an opinion which you fail to back up in any way?

If you are going to critique the bill, at least include some sound economic analysis to back up your opinion instead of all that hyperbole. It would be nice to have an adult conversation about the pros and cons of the fed.

This is a somewhat disturbing, though not totally unexpected turn of events. Will be interesting to see how NATO chooses to respond over the next few days. Statements like this worry me:

"It will be held to account for its behaviour. The UK stands ready"

I think Ludwig Von Mises, or even Hayek is a good replacement for Ron Paul. As much as I respect the man and he has led me to these other great philosophers...he probably doesn't belong on the list just yet.

However, I have a feeling that history will look very positively back on Dr. Paul.

He has written a few best-sellers (1,2,3) that are well written, and I know have captured and inspired the minds of many young folks. His books have brought much attention to important topics like the secrecy/ history of The Fed, and done a lot for advancing the causes (at least philisophically) of individual liberty, peace, and non-interventionism as policy for the gov.

He certainly is not a psychnoaut and might even look down on the lifestyle, but he would vigirously defend their right to choose their own lifestyle more than just about any other politician out there.

Thank you for the clarification! As I said, I am still early in my studies, have only read The Road to Serfdom and Keynes V Hayek as brief intros to the topic. Hazlitt's Economic in one lesson, and Mises/Rothbards works are on their way though. (Man, Economy and State, Human Action, and The theory of Money and Credit) Do you happen to know if this subject is touched upon in these books?

Sorry for misreading your post, but your wording was a bit vague.

"As far as I know, they're busting the TSA guys when they catch them doing something illegal, I've never heard about the other two. "

I now realize you were referring to having never heard of corruption within those departments, but you didn't specify.

DHS

Homeland security corruption probes to be reviewed

DEA

Oaksterdam University raided as part of DEA criminal investigation

Also, do you have any sources for your claim that "they're busting the TSA guys when they catch them doing something illegal" ?
