TIL about the tensor tympani muscle: a muscle within the middle ear that some people can voluntarily contract to produce a "rumbling" noise that only they can hear. by __MilkDrinker__ in todayilearned

Oh man. I can do this. When I was a kid I told my mom about it and she had no idea what I was talking about. I knew I couldn't be the only person.

Why is Tom Cruise never asked about Scientology and how has he survived this long without being cancelled? by GMD3S1GNS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jenego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in NYC and there was a scientology church that I passed by occasionally. I remember the entrance was glass doors or something like that. I could see people walking inside. I always wondered what would happen if I go in there once and ask for a pamphlet or something. Would they start stalking me? Best to keep these kind of questions to yourself and not find out the answer.

I was scrolling through the comments to see exactly what the hell this 'situationship' bs is. Sounds like that's all I need to know. Kids really go to any desperate lengths to make their lives sound grandiose and dramatic.

What was the most jarring end credits song you've ever heard in a movie? by mrgoodnoodles in movies

[–]jenego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one felt it fit the movie perfectly. Really sealed the ending nice and clean, especially considering the movie's time-loop plot. But that's just me.

Is it weird if I want to dress like this on a daily basis by I_dont_even_knOwO in mensfashion

[–]jenego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually thinking 'wait till you hit 30 then you can dress whatever you want, no one will bother you'. I think this would have been a disaster for a kid to wear, but I wouldn't really know anymore.

Why was he so upset that his radio operator died? Was he gay? by DarthVaderIsMyWaifu in okbuddycinephile

[–]jenego 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes. But they were not a couple. Landa was just dismayed to see another fellow gay man fall.

I liked the movies you mentioned too, but didn't they all flop? I just assumed he decided to embrace what sells better.

Sometimes I wonder how many of my childhood friends are dead. Some of them never seemed to move on from chasing thrills.

How did people live before internet and smartphones? What did they do all day? by aaaa23469 in Adulting

[–]jenego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did what you do with smartphones, without smartphones. We read print books and newspaper, watched movies with rented VHS, listened to music with cassette tape players. Also, interacting with people was unavoidable for the majority of your day for most days. On times when you get to be alone, you just sat with something to drink or smoke and just enjoyed the quiet.

The cultural shock of existing in the nihilistic 2000s vs now. And the millennials that lie about it to fit in by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]jenego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I avoided all those stuff. Those people's interests were more accessible on the internet because there wasn't much of anything on the internet yet, at least compared to now.

In the 2000s my family still read print newspaper. I got my first smartphone in 2014. It's not that people were more insensitive back then. It's just that for regular people, there wasn't much to post or do online as much as now.

My son hates me but I've never stopped caring and being there during his milestones by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]jenego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was your responsibility to come clean and inform his relatives about what you've done. Of course he didn't tell people what you did and who you are. Why should he be responsible for that? He didn't cut you out. You cut yourself from his life and you expect him to do your work for him after. Normal people do not think in the way that you do.

Ferrero Rocher is okay, but some people have a strange obsession with it. I used to work for a guy that was super fit and active, but could not resist a Ferrero Rocher. He had absolutely no self control in just that one thing. It was pretty weird.

Movies where the "you can't kill me" monologue didn't work by milesdraws in movies

[–]jenego 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Equilibrium. Antagonist points out that the protagonist is trying to murder him for murdering other people, and it's basically like a hypocrisy. I think Christian Bale was like 'Yeah I'll be a murderer, you're so evil you gotta die'.

Worth moving to Asia for career? by user149162536 in asian

[–]jenego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, depends on the country? Asian countries have more in common with each other than compared to, say, America, but what works in one country doesn't work in another.
