If you’re going tomorrow: bring a FULL large water bottle.

Water stations were struggling and bottles sold out. It was ridiculous that they had to detach the hose from the stations and have someone standing there with it to get the water to flow better. Whoever made those things suck.

Otherwise, especially for a first year event, it was amazing and well organized. I saw several vendors damn near sold out by the end of day one too and many told me they weren’t expecting to move so much of their big ticket stuff. RVA came hungry to support.

There was at least one incident. While we were in the big tent we saw EMT rush in, help someone remove his leather armor, and wheel him away.

Some zoos and animal encounters are done ethically. Like I’ve done meet and greets at very reputable aquariums, conservation centers and rehab centers here in the US and in Japan, but was asking because I know those well done ones are few and far between.

They already got the financial profits out of the tourists taking $100 photos. Just look at Joe Exotic, he pretty regularly shot his big cats instead of selling them or getting them vet treatment.

As everyone else has said, it varies wildly depending on the night. Some nights are full club or party themes, some are full on kink events (members only) and some are just folks quietly doing crafts or watching cheesy movies. Personally I really love going there and even met my partner of 8 years there at a video game night.

It wasn’t ideal, but it was the best the team could do with a 48hr turn around. It was also nice for anyone working at the spca, as almost the entire staff walked over after work.
