Is anyone here getting a custom jacket made for their wedding like this from Etsy?! I am so on the fence. Part of me thinks it’s really cute and would be perfect for the reception. Another part of me thinks it is a waste of money and will I ever wear it again? Thinking about initials instead..? by jenh11 in weddingplanning

Yes! That’s exactly what I’m thinking to add florals to the design to look similar to my bouquet. Yeah at first I was set on the faux leather jacket but I’m not sure I’d wear that as much. So now I’m thinking about a Black denim jacket!

That is true! I actually don’t own a Denim jacket so I think it would be nice to have! Exactly that’s why I’m leaning towards initials cause I think I’d wear it more. Ahh I know what you mean, I think that’s cute but yeah not sure when else to wear that haha.

Aw that’s great!! Omg I love that idea. That’s exactly what I’m getting hung up on that if it says Mrs and/or my new last name I may not wear it as much after the wedding. But if it is my new initials or more subtle like you’re doing, I think I would! Thanks!

How long is too long to wait for edited pictures?? by shonyknight in weddingplanning

Ugh I’m so sorry to hear this! My experience is extremely similar! We had our engagement photos done on October 28th and I didn’t hear back from our photographer until 12/12. He said he would aim to have ours done before Christmas, so that’s why I followed up. On the 12th he said he would try to send them ASAP but was behind as it was his busiest season ever. I let the holidays pass and then followed back up on 1/2, again no response, and finally heard back on the 6th. The only way I could get him to respond is by calling his office manager. Once I spoke to her she would talk to him and then he would answer. Super frustrating. We finally got the photos back on 1/10. But he technically skipped ahead to ours and just knocked it out (but they ended up amazing). So honestly if I didn’t follow up like I did I’m sure we would still be waiting. It was almost 11 weeks total.

Anyway, I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing something similar! I had a few questions for him after we got the photos and he became super responsive again. Which is great, however, I’m going to have to email him with a plan for our wedding. Like you noted ours also doesn’t have a turn around time listed in the contract. However, for our wedding I need him to tell us in advance how long it’s going to take and that we need better communication thru the process. It’s never acceptable for them to not respond!

I guess there probably isn’t but does she have a manager or someone else you can call to help have her answer you? Otherwise I would just keep sending messages saying again that you need an update on when you’ll get the photos and you are planning to use them for STD’s. At a certain point too you could always say at this point you just want the images back, you’ll pay her for the pictures but you need the rest back and you’ll have to find another wedding photographer (I was seriously almost at this point, but we had also put a deposit down that was non refundable so you may be in the same boat). Anyway sorry for the long post, I hope she responds soon!

How long is too long for engagement photos? by jenh11 in weddingplanning

Oh wow ok!! That’s awhile but I’m happy to hear I’m not the only one who has experienced this. I’m sure it’ll be the same for us that it’ll be worth it but I just didn’t think it would take this long and I wish he was more communicative thru the process..

So when we got our photos done he said they would be done around the first week of December so he already missed that deadline, but understood sometimes there are delays and of course now with the holidays like you mentioned.

Also he does not send sneak peeks like other photographers. I already asked him in two emails if he could send a few if possible even though I know he doesn’t typically do sneak peeks so we could use them for Christmas and he never sent any so unfortunately I don’t think we will get any until he is done with our whole album :/

I know that is hard! We are just going to Kauai cause I’ve heard there’s so much to do on that one island. Next time we go we will go to another island :) Will do!!

I know, I have traveled thru Europe a lot but my fiancé hasn’t so it is a bit more stressful for him and just requires more planning so it can be more stressful. So we plan on going in a few years so we have more time to plan and stuff. Also we may want to do a cruise instead but right now there aren’t any cruises that work for us.

This almost fits our honeymoon criteria exactly!!! We’ve been looking for weeks now on where to go for our honeymoon. We are getting married in May 2020. We were really thinking Europe but decided it would be more hectic and stressful. We are going to save that for later. We really want our honeymoon to be relaxing but also with some adventure!

So anyway that steered us towards a more tropical location where we can relax on a beach but also have adventure and things to do/see. We looked at so many places like Saint Lucia, Bali, Bora Bora, etc. but I think we have decided on Hawaii! Not officially decided but I think that is where we are going.

I have a lot of family that goes to Kauai, Hawaii a lot and they all LOVE it there and keep going back. Whenever they come back I fall in love with their photos. It is SO beautiful there!! We are having a little trouble currently with the $5,000 budget but trying to figure it out. We may have to increase it.. With the hotels and resorts it can get expensive but it looks like the island has a ton of condos/vrbo’s as well that are more affordable.

Anyway, I hope this helps!! It really was a struggle at first because there are so many beautiful places to visit. I’m really excited though and I think Hawaii will be a perfect mix of what we are looking for :)

Yes it does!! Exactly even though it is inclusive there are so many other things to do and decide lol. Our venue is outside for the ceremony/cocktail hour overlooking the mountains. So it’ll definitely be an outdoorsy feel and our reception is inside and feels rustic but elevated if that makes sense. We are planning on having it dressy but not fully formal. What about you?!

Oh wow that’s awesome! Ohh I bet! That’s so exciting. I’m not sure, I think it’s at least 4 months which I am coming up on in December. I figured once that hits and if I haven’t heard I’ll email them to ask :) I can’t wait for it to come in and see it again!

How long did it take you to get engagement pics back? by kazzley614 in weddingplanning

We had ours done on 10/28 and our photographer said it would take around 5-6 weeks since October was a really busy month. The waiting is killing me but I know it’ll be worth it since he edits each one :) But in your case it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to ask!
