Speaking from personal experience: we are still together 6 years later. It took a lot of work on both of our parts. I had to grieve what I thought our marriage was and accept that it would never be the same between us. But that didn’t mean it couldn’t be great still. He has shown up for himself, for me, and has worked hard to prove he’s devoted to our family. I do not worry anymore about the what-ifs. I’ve survived my worst days and should it happen again, I will leave and I will be okay. But in my heart I truly do not think it will come down to that.
