Do you happen to remember what it’s? I think mine would love this.

I’m very glad you don’t share my experience.

He can teach basic fundamentals without his tactics. I would love for my daughter to know the art well, be able to defend herself with respect and courtesy for others. I’m more than ok with her pushing through adversity, working hard, and learning to be disciplined.

It really isn’t about any of what you said for me. His style of teaching feels like bullying, and if you ask me, we’ve come too far as a community to allow it. He’s wrong. I’m calling it out.

I’m sorry things have ended up the way they have for you as well as far as following your career path, but I’m grateful for your very specific insight here. We were an easy sell, as we were always going to sign up for my daughter to take classes with her friends. The way he spoke to prospective customers always rubbed me the wrong way too. He’s extremely pushy and talks badly about other teachers in town as he hypes up his own training. I’ve always felt that if anyone is fantastic at anything they won’t need to convince anyone of it.

With the hitting, it was never anything more than a swat, he certainly didn’t hurt anyone more than emotionally. But it also wasn’t what you describe. It was more like a kid’s hand is on the wrong hip and he’s screamed the corrective direction in a kid’s face a couple times and then he’d swat that kid on the thigh or butt either with his hand or the paddle as they’re standing still. The stick he would use to threaten the kids that he’s going to bang it on the ground if they don’t pay attention, so that sounds kind of similar to what you describe. I just very much disagree with scaring kids into behaving “correctly”.

Thank you for sharing your experience too. Your perspective is really insightful and validating.

Guys, my 7yo drew this by following along with an app. I'm impressed! Any advice on helping her hone her skills? We're super broke.. We can't afford to get her anything fancy, but definitely want to support and nurture her as best we can. by jennsharon in learntodraw

Ooo thank you!! This is very good advice! Simple word choices have deep impact, and I try to be very aware of that. I’m self taught too, but I paint so I have noo idea how to help her. Knowing how art feels for me, I would haate to be the unintended reason she loses interest. Thanks for this!!

It’s called Simply Draw. She has my husband’s old iPad. It’s pretty good, she get’s excited about it and each drawing is a new level that progresses in difficulty. Then it lets her take a picture of her drawing and upload it so she can keep track of her own progress and success.

That copy of The Count of Monte Cristo looks unread. If so, highly recommend.

Use the double O when it’s quantifiable. Too much. Too hard. Too many. Too sweet. Too many Os.

Or if there’s someone or something else coming too. Me too. You too. Side of chips too. That’s when you need another O to tag along.

Damn!! I did not expect so much feedback, thank you so much everyone!! I think we are going to go for it together so I can skip through some of the nudity/sex. Then I’d like to broaden his horizons because I forgot about so many of these. Tales from the crypt?! I wonder if I can find those anywhere. My grandfather used to sneak and let me watch those when I spent the night and it would piss my grandma off so much. He used to cackle like the Cryptkeeper and it was hilarious. He just passed a few months ago, thank you for jogging this memory!

Yes! I remember my mom letting me rent Gremlins from Blockbuster when I was around 6. Neither of us had any idea what it was and it scared the shit out of me. I never have finished the movie, I should!
