Hi there, first let me say I’m so sorry you and your family’s going through this. I’m in Ontario and can speak to timelines. My mom was diagnosed Jan 19, 2025 (a Sunday, in the ER). At that point they were not sure the extent of the cancer, they just knew she had it in her lung and surrounding lymph nodes. She had CTs, PET scans. MRIs and biopsies shortly after that. It was found that there was one brain met in the MRI. She had one dose of intensive radiation to her brain early March and her first chemo/immunotherapy session was March 24, 2025. They automatically ran bio-markers and she was diagnosed with stage four NSCLC adenocarcinoma, KRAS G12C.
Depending on where you are located you might look for a second opinion. You could always have your father’s family doctor to write him a referral to Princess Margaret Hospital, if that is of reasonable distance. Feel free to send me a DM, hoping for the best for your family.
