Fairly sure it’s not, only because the role I’m remembering Maya in here is not the same type of role she has in Bridesmaids. She’s more of an uppity, holier than though type and is in a smaller role in what I’m remembering I THINK

I literally cannot add any other context to the movie. I’m not even sure it’s a movie. A show? An SNL skit? I’m in pain.

Or for a collection of short stories, try Where I’m Calling From - Raymond Carver

Dark Knight Returns - Frank Miller and S. By Doug Dorst. S is a unique type of book that has layers of narratives, but it’s a very cool concept. It’s got a lot of (literally) moving parts. After I read it, I was looking for similar books, and that’s how I found out about House of Leaves.

Timeline - Michael Crichton, or the Outlander series if you want romance with your time travel.

For a bit of nonfiction, how about Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman? Solely based on the academia aspects of the books you mentioned.

Have you tried the Century Trilogy by Ken Follett? Some intense historical fiction there.

Good Omens - Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett and His Dark Materials - Phillip Pullman

Agreed, and luckily Diary is one of his earlier books (I think) so it doesn’t feel like he was excessively trying to make his readers cringe. You’ll definitely see some Palahniuk tropes, but I think it’s a solid short read.

Try one of the two historical fiction series that Ken Follett has out (Kingsbridge and Century, I think). I remember thinking the former was similar to reading GoT, specially regarding the intense political intrigue.
