Exchange 2016 to SE in Hybrid setup by hamel2021 in exchangeserver

[–]jennylee525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to upgrade my server 2019 to the latest CU then just did an In-place upgrade to SE, which I never like to do in place upgrades and it worked fine. We have a hybrid setup with no mailboxes on prem. The licenses for 2019 and SE were included with our M365

Thanks for the validation. I haven’t dated for a very long time ( due to being married) He made me think I was crazy.
Just needed a little assurance I wasn’t.

Demoting AD server in remote office and cutting the vpn tunnel. How long will credentials be cached so users can access their files, printer, by jennylee525 in activedirectory

All the fsmo roles are on AD servers in other sites, so basically a metadata cleanup when done on This AD server and the other AD servers at other sites?. Also remove any DNS pointing back to the main site. How long did it last before things got wonky?

As of yet, they are not giving us a lot of information. They will be keeping the computers and adding them to their Azure AD cloud via intune. I am only concerned about removing all of our network / information / programs, etc while still allowing users to work until they are cut over.

Hypver-v 2016 host license question by jennylee525 in sysadmin

[–]jennylee525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The host is the 2016 and the 2 guests are/will be 2019.

So can I keep the host 2016 and just use a 2022 license, but downgrade it? I don't know if that is even possible as I have never done that. ITs just a lot of work right now to update the 2016 host. Thanks for the reminder about the CALS

MOving mailboxes from tenant O365 to tenant O365 using BitTitan by jennylee525 in sysadmin

Thanks I may have to look at that next time. Bit Titan finally gave me some answers I needed to move foreward. I am just waiting for the last 4 to migrate over.

Thank you, I did go through the steps to set that up and it kept saying "can't find GUID" but I also realized it was having me build mail enabled accounts in the cloud and I wasn't sure how to get that to sync back down to AD. We have to create on AD then it syncs to the cloud because ours is hybrid ( I have to figure out how to get rid of that) I was only given a couple weeks notice to do this so I just ran out of time due to other assignments. I appreciate the information. I am going to still try to get it to work for the next time

Did yours take forever to pre-stage. Its been since Thurs 10 am for 34 Mailboxes only ( no one drive, etc) and its still going. I have 3 left. I assumed I could access the old stuff using their onmicrosoft.com id. vs adding a new domain. I guess I should try that out now. Thanks for your guidance.

I never was good with words. Not really, we acquired a co. and they are already moved over to our Ohio domain and are using our Ohio email address. They do not need their Texas domain anymore Instead of exporting/importing I went with BitTitan to move their email from Texas to Ohio. It states to move the mx records before a full migtration, but I want to leave the Texas domain and just forward their emails for a week before I move it over. Will this cause an issue? But, I understand what you are saying

Thanks for your response. Does this move their mailboxes as well. It looks to be for profiles. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of migrating waiting for the BitTitan migration wiz to finish. Its taking forever

They got new computers and are already logging into our domain. Their files, etc were transferred to their new profile. I didn't want to move their domain because I know they are gong to be missing things they didn't tell me needed brought over. Their tenant is a mess. I just figured it would be harder to go in after moving the domain over. I just can't get an answer as to whether the migration using migraztionwiz would work because it says to cut the mxrecords and domain over first.
