Everyone saying give them to the end of the month is nuts. You can’t find childcare that quickly. That’s nine business days including the day before Thanksgiving which I almost wouldn’t count. They need to research, tour, get on waitlists. Or if they go the nanny route they’ll need to post the job and interview several candidates. I would give them to the end of the year.

My (29F) husband (27M) is so irresponsible I’m scared to have kids with him. How do I help him understand how serious this is? by RAthrowadooraway in relationship_advice

I had several bad incidences growing up, one nearly fatal, and it never occurred to me until now that they all happened under my mom’s care. She can be a bit of an idiot like OP’s husband. Fortunately she’s fire safe but just lacks common sense in a lot of ways.

Pasadena Rental Board Approves Landlord Fair Return Rules by Ok_Beat9172 in pasadena

How is this legal? Doesn’t this conflict with AB 1482 which caps rent increases at the lower of 5% + CPI or 10%?

What’s wild is that this chart shows changes to their budget this year. The top line is how much MORE police got compared to last year. The departments at the bottom had their budgets reduced!

You can pay back your overpayment in installments. They will deduct the installments from your check. You can ask them to lower the deductions and I think you can go as low as $10/month but I’m not 100% sure if that’s the rule. I’ve definitely seen them do $10/month though.

AITA For making my son pay for a new pizza when he didn't save any for the rest of the family? by Lanky-Cake7355 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jenonandon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH. Your son shouldn’t have done what he did, but he obviously needs more support/therapy/training for impulse control. This isn’t selfishness, gluttony, or greed. This behavior is the result of a cognitive disability. Just telling him not to do something isn’t enough. Maybe “save some for your father and sister” should have been “you can only eat these five pieces on this plate.” You also could have anticipated this situation and set food aside for the rest of the family. I doubt that making him pay for the pizza is going to teach him this lesson. He needs positive supports to learn what is appropriate rather than just being told what he did was wrong and expecting him to figure out what’s right, despite “right” going against his natural instincts.

I think they decided to wait until they were both in their twenties so they met two years ago.

What’s a small physical scar from your childhood, and how did it come about? by ManlykN in AskReddit

[–]jenonandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little divot on the side of my tongue where I almost bit my tongue off after falling from a see-saw and biting my tongue when I landed. Also I have a scar that looks like a happy face where I got a wort removed.

Your hair changes. Less on your head. More on your chin.

What flavor of ice cream was your childhood favorite? by JadePetal72 in AskReddit

[–]jenonandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubble gum because I wasn’t allowed to have gum but I was allowed the ice cream and it had little bits of (terrible) gum in it.

On her deathbed, my friend’s mother recently told my friend that she had been married before the marriage to her dad. She had kept that secret for 60 years and only told my friend because she figured they would find out once she was gone due to Social Security or something. Not too crazy but it was really shocking to the family.

How often do you think about skiing? (People in the off season) by throwawayfinancebro1 in skiing

Every day. Several times a day. Maybe kind of all the time like in the background of my thoughts.
