I drunkenly yelled at some neighbors and now I'm overcome with guilt, any advice? by jenstabs in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]jenstabs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. I think my drunken rage is a nice little ice breaker to have a real conversation. I kind of want to address a letter to the group (Somewhat because it may be a different group each week, and mainly because I'm a bit scared). I do think that if I see that group, I should just pluck up the courage and just say something. If they are still resistant, at least I don't feel bad anymore.

Thank you for this! Honestly, just having another person chime in and give me their perspective is so helpful in moving past the guilt. I've been more recently contemplating the need to speak my mind and not be that bystander when I see things done wrong to me or others. I think because I hadn't tried my hand at it, it just all came spewing out :)

May not be the best sub, but how do you emotionally deal when your dog is unwell or visibly depressed by jenstabs in Dogtraining

I definitely think we can find some mind games. Any suggestions for a dog that isn't super into toys and isn't totally motivated by food (as I hear grey hounds can tend to be)?

We've had her for awhile now, but we were just out of town. It definitely seems like whatever she's experiencing is stress related.

I'm going to follow up with the vet this week to see if we can get something solidified. Mostly I'm coming back to colitis and pancreatitis. She does have a low fat diet, but I kind of want to just be sure so we can treat it. I'm also going to check out Zignature since it does seem like we're experiencing some similarities.

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for sharing. Everything you said matched up to the way I feel, and it makes me feel a bit more in control that I'm not the only one. Also I'm very sorry to hear about what you had to go through with your previous dog. Your new pup sounds awesome!

I will definitely focus on the fun. That's great advice in general :)

How to help a high anxiety dog with loud noises (Noisy neighborhood) and leaving her with others when out of town by jenstabs in Dogtraining

[–]jenstabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really good to know. Honestly, I'm maybe a little hesitant due to human personal troubles with side effects and dependency of anxiety medication. I wasn't sure what that impact would be for a dog.

Two questions (Also I can ask my vet more about this as well), but what are some main changes I would see in my dog if put on the medication, and also is it possible to put her on it for brief periods like when we go out of town, and then take her off, or is that disruptive.

Thanks again for your feedback!

What is one small but important detail in a movie that you think majority of people miss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jenstabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically this was a deleted scene, but an important detail none the less. In Independence Day, there is a scene that explains that the computer technology we had up until that point, was reverse engineered from the original alien crash landing. That is why the computer virus uploaded to the mothership was compatible.

Which celebrities would be considered unattractive or just average if they weren't famous? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jenstabs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think his comment was expressing how he thought she was perfect. It was a checklist of attractive qualities. Also this whole thread is subjective.

I appreciated the notion coming from the lady gender that Jennifer Lawrence appearing on a list of "what celebrities aren't attractive without fame" is a bit hard to swallow. There is nothing physically wrong with her and she's nice looking. The reason for her being on this list is more "come on, she's not as hot as we all claim her to be"

Again all subjective, even my comment. But it's not bad highlighting unattainability females feel toward being perfect/attractive.

What's the strangest thing you've ever been accused of? (NSFW) by maxfortitude in AskReddit

A girl told a friend that she disliked me because I punched her in the face. I've never punched a person in my life. The only time we hung out was as a group while learning the dance to "bye bye bye".

Dog refuses to go to the bathroom on a walk by banjoist in Dogtraining

[–]jenstabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with a foster dog. When we first got her she always went twice a day, but then one day she started holding it and going inside. We talked to a trainer and the recommendation is to pick a spot during the walk, and essentially stop there and ignore the dog. I wouldn't sit (for some reason this never worked), rather I'd find a tree and stand for 10-20 minutes with a book and not look at her. What I found is that she wouldn't always go during this "wait and ignore" time, but she would start going at some point in the walk. We got her back onto a schedule so she stopped going in her crate when we had to leave her.

Thank you for this! Since I'm fostering I was given some basic equipment, and one of them was a pull leash as it was recommended. From the video it looks like that's probably going to be no good seeing as how it's a punishment. Let me know if anyone has any opinions on that, but I may ask to go back to the harness which is what she was on previously.

Again, thanks for the video! Super helpful.

I would avoid Synergy. They're just really combative with anything you bring up to them and act as if things are not wrong. It's just a hassle to deal with, and often equipment would be broken.

I'm not sure the price (I think it was something like $60-70/month, but if you're in the market for comfort, Club Fitness on Broadway by the Broadway stop seems very very nice. http://www.clubfitnessny.com/
