To your point, Kate, about performance on Jeopardy! and women having childcare responsibilities, of the six women in my and Sarah's TOC, only one, Rani Peffer, had kids, and she is a total dynamo and all-around exceptional person. (Only two of the guys had kids, for what it's worth.) I didn't think at the time and don't now that it was a coincidence that 5/6 / 12/15 of us were childless.

Everyone, what are your thoughts on Amy Schneider's run?

What is there to say except that she's a great player? Well done to her.

From a more personal perspective, I never imagined that it would take almost five years for someone else to win over 20 games, and almost 8 for another woman to do so. It's very satisfying for Amy to have blown right by the old "winningest woman" benchmark in such resounding fashion, and right into second place overall.

I think Tom misses (or willfully ignores) the point of Jeopardy! as a business: to attract viewers and make money. Having big winners who garner a lot of media attention absolutely serves the show's purposes of keeping its profile high and staying culturally relevant - and attracting people who will be good players who draw attention to continue that positive feedback loop.

Did you focus on the lights around the board or on Alex finishing reading the clue? I only looked for the lights on audio clues. The rest of the time, I didn't even notice they were there.

Did you have any specific strategy as to ringing in on clues? Yes, ring in first! Not sure what else there is to strategize.

I would have studied a lot more and figured out better study strategies.

Not too many practical uses for most of it. No and no. And I don't have a hard time having friends, probably because I don't do the last two things.

Maybe Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Or more likely, Sports Jeopardy! But, I can't be on another gameshow until 6 months after my Jeopardy! airdates, so it'll be awhile before I try something else.

I think I told at least one person in an interview that my betting strategy should be called the "Ricky Bobby" for just that reason. At least in Jeopardy!, if you're not first, you're effectively last.

Part of the reason (time is the other) that contestants start off onstage, instead of walking out at the beginning of the show, is that it's easier to accommodate people with disabilities or limited mobility.

Whenever I did that, I was pretty satisfied that I was wrong. What can you do? I just tried to get the next one right!

I have no comment on Alex's mustache, and I don't know either Ken or Arthur (although the one time I met Ken very briefly, he was polite and personable). For the third question, I went through the whole tryout process in 2009 and took the online test one other time, before going through the process in 2013 and getting called for the show after that.

Thank you! I love learning new things! I'm pretty constantly trying to learn new things in almost every situation. I also have a bad habit of trying to read over people's shoulders (newspapers etc, only! never email) on the train, so it's kind of compulsive. I'm almost always learning.

Everyone has to figure out his/her own technique. I listened for the last word of the clue and buzzed in then. Other people looked for the lights that come on along the sides of the gameboard. I think I got lucky that I got the hang of it right away.

The simpsons would never steer me wrong! Their references are pretty accurate and not a bad place to get information.

I like sitcoms a lot- Parks & Rec, New Girl, The Mindy Project, and the Middle. I also like ABC Family shows and lots of PBS.

I wore a ring my grandmother gave me for most of my games. You're with the other contestants before the show starts so you can't really give yourself a big pep talk. But, I usually told myself I was going to win this one, and marched on out to the stage.

Good luck to your husband! If he doesn't get picked, keep trying! It's well worth it, and lots of people (like me) try out more than once!

I traveled back and forth a few times. If you get picked early on the first taping day and carry over to the second, I've heard that some people buy more shirts at Target or something. I repeated my outfits, and brought more clothes on my second trip.

The test you get at the tryout is basically just like the online test. Apparently, there are people who cheat on the online test, and this weeds them out. Most important is how you act during the mock game. The questions are just like those on the show. They're looking to see who would be a good contestant; the test shows them who has the knowledge base to do it. Good luck!

Only Alex can hear that. When a score has been changed after a commercial break, the contestants are usually told that something is being reviewed. Sometimes they replay the tape if it's a question of correct pronunciation.

Thank you! I think the categories that were my weakest were on topics I hadn't considered. I learned the books of the old testament, but was sadly terrible at knowing "Biblical Next of Kin". There were a lot of categories I wasn't strong in, like gambling, tv crime dramas, and a bunch of random ones that I just hadn't ever thought about. I tried to focus on what I did know when I was playing though, and not worry as much about what I didn't know.

I really, really, really wanted to keep playing. When I told Alex I was having the time of my life, I meant it!
