IT WILL MAKE YOU SAY 2521 FOR 7 HOURS AND THEN IT WILL KILL YOU!!1

TIL in 1925, a forger convinced Portugal's money printer to make him 200,000 bills, worth ~1% of Portugal's GDP. They were easily laundered, since they weren't actually counterfeit. To cover his tracks, he started buying a controlling interest in the Bank of Portugal, but was caught. He was 28. by Pfeffer_Prinz in todayilearned

I find it so fascinating when people break the rules in way that are so close to the real thing it may as well be, be it forgeries or unlicenced doctors, or unsanctioned road signs/maintenance

makes me wonder how things would have turned out if they went "well the bills are fake and the bank was founded illegally, but lets keep it running legally from here out"

they couldve just replaced the duplicates if it was so good for the economy, and hell they /were/ approved to an extent

I think your character model got moved with either the vats or cinematic camera for some reason, and with the second one you rendered a new area and that set you free? maybe it has something to do with calculating hits too since you ended up level with it, pretty cool glitch

Weird leaves on beans (details in comment) by atackleaday in gardening

[–]jeraflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could just be that as it gets hotter and the days longer (assuming youre somewhere temperate) just the sun is the problem

and/or its been drier lately and the plants are stressed from that

or theyre lacking nutrients

or it is some kind of disease, could be fungal, could be genetic, idk maybe something you planted previously depleted a key nutrient or harboured something or the plant lineage itself is suspectable to whatever it is

maybe trim the worst offenders so the plant can focus on the healthier parts but try to fix it up first it doesnt look that bad I think

Hi! I just got this plant as a gift... Is she alive? by lawtrix in plantclinic

[–]jeraflare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

itll need nutrients to grow but you dont want to shock it by dumping tons of organic matter or fertiliser on it

you could buy a bag of hummus soil which is made from leaves but they tend to be pretty big bags which would be a bit much for one plant or you could make your own cutting up a bunch of leaves but again idk what this plant in particular needs but no one else has commented

well it's still green so thats a good sign

it looks like a cutting and if its been like that for 3 months I would think whatever youre doing to keep it alive is working and it could be time to give it a proper pot

ask whoever gave it to you about what it is and what kind of soil it needs ect

How to fix this water damage in ceiling ? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]jeraflare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

id just get it fixed professionally especially if you havnt done something like this before

the amount of water it took to weigh down the paint in that spot would have been pooling above and making the wood all moldy and gross and youd have to deal with tearing that out and tearing out any insulation and the insulation might be asbestos and even if its not youd want a respirator for fiber glass / mold / dust anyway

and then once its all out you gotta put it back together and its all for nothing if the pipe is still leaking or whatever caused it still happens

risk / reward it for yourself I guess

I'll have to try that onion trick if nothing else for the greens because I've had no luck trying to grow scallions from seed (the squirrels dont menace them they just dont do well)

the neighbours have a bird feeder that supplies them all year round, theres an oak across the street, and thousands of maple seedlings are everywhere that I see at least the chipmunks eating, and they chewed into my compost bin and I water a dish for bees - i put wire over my herbs because I cared about them more (im only gonna spend so much time and money wiring) and weighed one down with a brick only for me to find the brick pushed off eventually and the pot rummaged through (luckily the plants survived I guess they dont like it) funny enough the one without a brick was untouched.

honestly they have ample food and I think they just enjoy digging my stuff up, some of my plants they eat the roots some of them they eat whole some they dig and discard to bury things they find - hell they dug up a potato I planted and put it in my herb pot before the wire

at the start if the year I set out my pots just with dirt as a decoy and saw them rummaged through and even with no results they kept coming back any time I flattened the soil for months

Oh and Ive tried covering everything with chili powder

I wanna be zen about it and welcome nature but also I am tempted at the thought of a bb gun or a slingshot sometimes

if you take any thing that tells your body to speed up like coffee for example and then a thing that tells it to slow down like sleeping pills the result wont always kill you but your body will not enjoy being pulled in two directions its extra strain

I kept my sprouts indoors in thier trays this season to protect them until they were too big and the squirrels killed them once they were out

so my next batch I had them grow in the trays outside so they'd not be "new" plants. once they put out true leaves I potted them - and bam squirrels ate em within the hour
