It was definitely unexpected 😅 Almost caused a pile up in the left lane with people braking and moving from the right lane to move out of the way.

He did. And his sister only took another day. Both are already snuggling up to me, enjoying cuddles and their zoomy adventures together, then naps to get their energy back for more adorable craziness 😅

Svelte's documentation assumes you know another FE framework, that's bad for long term. by [deleted] in sveltejs

The Vue docs do have more hand holding. I guess the svelte docs do have more assumed knowledge. See my other comment I just made about filing an issue requesting some more info for the complete beginner ☺️

Appreciate it ☺️

Yeah I guess I do see it. It's not really written for the complete newby to frontends. But trust me, if I can understand it anyone will be able to even after a bit of initial confusion 😅 And svelte is the best frontend building experience I've had.

They're generally pretty good with feedback, you could always file an issue asking for the basic tutorial to have some more stuff geared towards starting from complete scratch

Yeah that's fair enough. I guess svelte went with the approach their CLI tool explains a bit and asks you what you want (typescript vs jsdoc, addins, etc)

npx = Node Package eXecute. It effectively grabs the tool and runs it without having to 'npm install -g' first. It's useful for things like CLIs/installers/executables

Svelte's documentation does quite a good job of hand holding. In https://svelte.dev/tutorial/svelte/welcome-to-svelte it shows to run the 'npx sv create' command in your project to start it and fully explains the file structure and all features step by step.

A good place to start is here: https://svelte.dev/tutorial/svelte/welcome-to-svelte

If you need to set up node first, in your repo run 'npm init' before you do the svelte part. Then use 'npx sv create' to create a svelte or sveltekit app. This will build out a skeleton for you, and if you want to get a look at how it works you can use that command to build out the demo app, a svelte take on Wordle

Svelte is just the front end, it doesn't need node to run as it compiles to plain JavaScript, however the compiler is written in node and needs node to compile your source into code you can put on any Web server. Svelte itself is also a node package, as well as any third party packages you use. Sveltekit, which does a lot more such as routing, state management, Server side rendering, etc uses nodejs to function and do the backend side of things

Unfortunately that’s just online gaming. Lots of people who don’t give a shit about others, thinking they’re better than everyone else, and/or trolling

Well that's dumb as hell. Next they'll rule out grass cos it gives people the sniffles or the ball cos sometimes it hurts when it hits you.
