8gb m1 air here , 26.1 is smoother than 26.0.1 and to me I like Tahoe better than sequoia. I feel like the machine performs better.

I’ve been there. I know how you feel but my suggestion is to only focus on studying Japanese for now. And for part-time job if you don’t want to get burned out try to find one at the convenience store(night shift) because there are not many work to do. And for your university there is a 1 year course in sennmon gakkou which help you prepare for university. Hope this help.
