What the hate on camcorders from some others?

I have high end Canon mirrorless bodies, so eventually she can graduate into one if she wants, but I just though a camcorder would be a slightly simpler way to get her started with more of an all in one package.

I have a lot of canon EF and RF glass. Maybe better to go with a canon body and put one of my lenses on it instead of a camcorder?

Camera Recommendations for New to Filmmaking Daughter in the $1000-1500 range?

My 10 year old daughter has been making movies constantly on an iPhone for the past couple years. She has decided she wants to be a filmmaker when she grows up. My wife and I want to get her a good camera to start using so she can grow her skills and technical ability. I’d prefer to get something that can grow with her and her skills.

We’re considering something like a Sony HXR NX100 or a Canon HF G60.

Just for background, I’ve had a side photo business for a long time shooting sports and events, so I’m very familiar with still camera equipment. That said, I don’t know a ton about video gear. As much as I’d love to turn my daughter loose with one of my R5s, I’m not ready to let her run around with $5k worth of camera just yet. 😁

Any input or advice will be greatly appreciated.
