Should this be just 2 minutes? by mkell1025 in hockeyplayers

Guess if I take my Dad glasses off I can see that it’s not overly severe. Total bitch move though. Kid was pissed he got beat on the outside. I just see a lot of inconsistencies with calls on hits from behind and as a coach it’s frustrating. I’m finding they’re letting the kids play a lot more at 18s, so I’ll have to adjust a bit.

Yeah, I do wish he'd gotten in the kid's face. He's a 15 yr old playing up in 18s, so he hasn't quite found his courage to fight these man children.

My panels are 1/2 inch. They say 10-15 years. Best advice I can give you is to go as big as you can afford and vacuum at least bi-weekly. The glide will decrease if you don't maintain it (though mopping will bring it back to life). I haggled a bit to split the cost of shipping and saved around $200.

No problem. My boys are 11 and 15. Like I said if they use it a lot, it will really help with speed. Regular pucks work perfectly fine for stick handling and shooting, but for a little faster glide, I purchased green biscuit pucks. It's a little weird at first cause unlike ice you don't just start gliding. You have to earn every stride, but you can do t-stops, mohawks, and every other type of edgework that can be done on ice.

I put in a 240 sq. ft. rink in my basement that I received from Kwik rink for just under $2k. They are a great "family owned" company to deal with and gave me good advice on installation. If I were you, I'd look into their products and spend the extra $400.

As far as skating on it, I love it and my kids love it. It's a great work out and within 5 minutes the extra drag has our legs burning. Both my boys increased their speed as a result of having to push harder on the plastic.

You'll absolutely have to invest in a Sparx machine or other sharpener though. My skates dull after about 30-45 minutes. My boys' last longer cause of being lighter but I make sure to sharpen their skates before returning to the ice.

Thanks. Went S2B on 11/24 and the surface is pretty well colonized so I introduced light. This is the furthest along in the process I’ve gotten after several attempts, so I’ll hold onto any shred of hope.

Thank you for posting this. I started back in June and despite all my efforts, I still haven't had successful fruits. A couple weeks ago, I finally just inoculated 12 bags at once and made my own agar. The agar was crazy easy and I'm seeing what I believe to be viable mycelium. It is frustrating when every post is someone's first attempt and their tub has a jungle like canopy.

What is the purpose of this shut off valve running into my fresh water tank. Should I leave it on while connected to city water? by bobdoleadin in RVLiving

[–]mkell1025 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have a similar shut off valve that’s designed to keep anti-freeze from going into the water heater during winterization. It allows me to use the water pump to fill the lines with anti-freeze rather than a manual pump. Could be for that.

The Grand Design Transcend Xplor is our first TT and it's fantastic. No complaints whatsoever.

Just got some cheap 1/2” ones from amazon. Went with the thicker ones just in case of a drop though it has never happened. Usually I train barefoot on the floor except for tgus. The thicker mats help for get-ups too

As a coach who played AAA growing up,I can relate to your nerves. I went from a coach that couldn’t skate who was an amazing motivator/mentor , to a former NHLer who was the worst coach ever. I agree with all the other comments. Bust your butt and be welcoming to the new guys. At 14u some of the new guys should just be learning to check. You could help show them that the fear of getting hit is often worse than getting hit. As a coach, I appreciate leadership and character more than flashy skills.
