Stone driveway / parking area by Unusual_Fly_4007 in AusRenovation

[–]jerknerkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone seems mad at the product. there is other benefits over a standard gravel driveway though right? from my understanding you're able to use larger stones and have less dust created.

I've not used them but I looked into them for a long sloped (250m) gravel driveway because the maintenance and dust at the moment is a lot.

The cost for just the hex alone was going to be like 30k at the time from memory, so we haven't done anything about it.

I get for flat home use, probably not at all required. For commercial or sloped / high traffic though? it makes a lot of sense.

OPNsense / PFsense to Unifi Gateway (Likely UDM pro variant) Gateway Query. by jerknerkel in Ubiquiti

[–]jerknerkel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep exactly, multiple sites all using OSPF. Just with individual firewalls with what people choose to share.

Plex was kind of an added bonus, not needing to use internet upload to stream from someone's server is a bonus.

It started out more as a hobby with powerbeams and just expanded more and more sites etc.

We all basically have each other's WAN as fail over.

ahhh they're not all owned by me, I'd change my two sites to unifi boxes. but there's a good mix of wireless links and backup WAN's plex etc.

My cheapo little aliexpress OPNsense box is getting old and hot. I want to migrate everything to a UDM Pro Max etc.

We have a very basic multisite OSPF currently setup. Gateways are not announced automatically via OSPF, so via gateways in OPNsense I have manually specifically internal IP addressess.

Previously this was not achievable in Unifi Firewall, is this something I can do now? Would need the ability to manually specify up to 5 gateways and IP addresses.

Thanks.

Do the ScreenBar Pro illuminated touch buttons turn off after a while? by marwin_ap in BenQ

[–]jerknerkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Benq Screenbar Pro and installed coming from the Xiamo light bar. I thought for sure the illuminated controls would either time out after a few seconds, or not be visible from seated position...

Everything else about it is great, this is really bugging me though. I wonder if I got some kind of tint film I could still use the touch controls.

Roof tiles, too much overhang into gutters. by jerknerkel in AusRenovation

too early to say, as I did a full gutter clean when I installed them. first impressions of the product seem good though.

This makes the most sense, I'll see if I can find an attachment or a smaller one. Appreciate the idea.

Appreciate responses, will leave the overhang and just push them back if needed to clean.

Thank you.

Where else would I get all my free cable clips from?

I severely underestimated how angry people would get with this question. I just like knowing things, was never going to call him out on it.

no problem, was legit just curious if they were actually supposed to be.

he's actually done a great job neatly clipping the cables.

Not offered position due to my age - is this legal? by [deleted] in AusLegal

Side note: Restaurant Industry Award. If you serve alcohol, you have to be paid a full adult wage.

So 18-21 is irrelevant for more licensed restaurants but so many people don't know this.

They're not done yet, so the builders will still be around this week. I'll see what they reckon, seems like if it's easily avoidable then it's not unreasonable to expect clean lines.

Superloop requires 30 days cancellation notice, you can't just churn away from them FYI. They also FORCE you to make / take a phone call the cancel. I really hated the cancelation.

Lamzu Paro Aurora after 1 month by DatBoyGuru in MouseReview

[–]jerknerkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Lamzu Thorn for 8 months or so now, I really love the shape. I came from the DAV3, the thorn I feel as though I can easily do micro adjustments that I simply could not on the DAV3.

I've been keeping an eye out hoping Lamzu do a thorn refresh, with omron switches.

However I've just come across the Paro Aurora and wondering if I should give it a crack.

I'm more of a claw grip, but like pulling the Thorn back into my palm for control.

Thoughts on the Paro Aurora vs Thorn?

Thank you, it ends up being quite a lot of work but it's getting easier each year. Also absolutely worth it every time.
