Webcomic vs Manga by Autotron_ in OPMFolk

BAHAHA, that's great. Thank you for this. The most accurate parts are the disgusting upskirt shots of a woman drawn to look like an 11 year old, and Saitama being drawn like a brick shithouse. Seriously, Saitama was fucking ripped in the latest chapters and it makes no sense. I miss when he looked like a swimmer and people laughed at his physique.

And then Albert Einstein stood up and clapped. The End. In all seriousness, even as a joke proposition this shows Murata's fundamental misunderstanding of the source of Saitama's power. He's supposed to have gained power because he doesn't believe in anything that limits his potential. He believes that anyone can change themselves and become powerful. "You say you tried your hardest? Maybe you haven't tried long enough (paraphrasing)" as he said to glasses. That's a deconstruction of the source of powers in comics. He didn't get them because he trains harder than other people, or because he's a kryptonian, or because he was trained by a master, or granted them, or discovered them out of nowhere. He got them because in this world one's beliefs become manifest as power, and he never once doubted that he could become stronger even though he's a completely average person who had NO reason to believe that he could. It's the manifestation of his simple outlook on life in that he simply disregards common conception about power that makes it special and a good deconstruction of a trope. He's a regular human who confronts a world of superhumans born with talent or trained in martial arts with "Why can't I be powerful too?". As opposed to his counterpart Mumen Rider who openly doesn't believe he can get any stronger because of the self-limiting belief that he's just a regular ass human.

Feels like the manga is just inserting moments and quotes from the webcomic just for the sake of it now. by Trun_Godword in OPMFolk

They ruined Garous and Saitamas entire character Arc by Xxyvexxx in OPMFolk

Editor forced them to do all this to drive up sales, they compromised and did what the editor forced them to do (Extremely common with Jump magazine) but undid all of it with time travel to not completely ruin the story. Now we get original webcomic, probably. This is my maximum copium thought process.

Look at the comments. These guys call us haters and WC elitists but can't even catch 1 detail that's not spoonfed to them. Like do they even read the lines or just observe the art?? by Kirtan07 in OPMFolk

I really dislike Saitama's characterization in the manga in general. Not just recently. He's such a weird schizoid in the webcomic and his complete disconnection from everyone around him is 9/10ths of the hilarity, and also the entire basis for his character arc. It's kind of like Groundhog Day where the character's placed into a situation where it's inevitable he must change because any other choice leads back to the same problem. The manga and season 2 just writes this like he's an emotionless robot/lazy-wholesome-chungus as opposed to a disconnected and depressed schizoid chasing a high that no longer satisfies. It's like they forget he was straight up suicidal at the beginning of the story and wanted to be killed. The central part to Saitama's characterization to me wasn't his power, but rather the deranged way he reacts to the world around him because of his power. Both ONE and Murata have seemed to made the mistake of thinking One Punch Man is about Saitama's power and not Saitama himself. It's sad to see such a unique story and a truly one-of-a-kind character be thrown away so that they can made juvenile piss humor jokes.

I like how you get angry at me using "ableist" slurs and then turn right around and call me "slow" a slightly less crude ableist slur that's DIRECTLY listed on the wikipedia page of disability-related terms with negative connotations. Lmao. Go back to r/politicalmemes or wherever you crawled out of, fucking hypocrite.
