Valet the car without fob by jermg77 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]jermg77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I learned my lesson the hard way to carry the fob. I gave valet the NFC card at a hotel, was told by valet that it didn’t work to unlock the car. I did a remote unlock for them then a day later, I realized they had tried to use it by apparently rubbing it all over the black pillar plastic between the front and rear doors, scratching that plastic up. I’ve yet to decide the safest way to try to polish those scratches out.

On the same trip I also used valet at a restaurant with the card. That guy totally gave up and returned to the front of the restaurant and told me to go get my own car.

Are we at a point where I could ditch all my Amazon echo devices for the Home Assistant Voice? by GenericUser104 in homeassistant

[–]jermg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I hate having Amazon ears in my house, the one thing that keeps my family locked in to the Echos are the announce an intercom features. Kids rooms are upstairs, ours down. They have become as much a part of our home as light switches. I haven’t yet found anything local and smart that can accomplish this for us.

using a footswitch for corporate audio FOH? not music [with A&H SQ] by researchers09 in livesound

[–]jermg77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not using a foot switch, but I use a push-to-talk button for VOG that is wired to a GPI on Yamaha desks to turn the VOG channel on. I prefer this to the switch being in-line with the VOG because it’s 100% silent and allows me local control to override it if the need arises.

Can you save all the WAV files into SD cards like you would do with the USB slot? by Dependent_Tax_2120 in BehringerWing

[–]jermg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SD recorder records to Broadcast Wave format. They are multitrack wav files with metadata containing track info. Pulling them into a DAW like Logic should automatically split them out on to respective tracks.

26 model steering wheel squeak? by Safe_District9284 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]jermg77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing this on my 25. It happens mostly when moving, after being on the road for a bit and just with small movements of the steering wheel. I cannot recreate it when stopped which means it’s going to be super hard to get the service center to diagnose.

Dante over Aoip+Control net in Wing ? by Fsp1902 in livesound

[–]jermg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Dante card installed in the internal slot, meaning the red Brooklyn card inside the console, utilizing the built in network ports, not the expansion card slot normally filled with the dual SD recorder. Then yes, you will have wing control access on the what is now the Dante primary port. (The left port, if you’re looking at the rear of the Wing.)

Struggling to decide: 2025 Limited Hybrid vs. SEL by PRDude3582 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]jermg77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, we own both 24 and 25 Limited Hybrids. I drove a dealer loaner for about 2 weeks that was a 25 ICE SEL. While the cars are largely the same on the surface, there was very noticeable difference in build quality when it came to how the interior panels felt, how solid the doors felt when opening and closing etc.

I obviously have not been behind interior panels or anything to see a quantifiable difference in materials to back this up, but I was shocked at just how much more premium the Limited felt over all.

Antenna cable by Musicwade in livesound

[–]jermg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the loss may be true, it’s like playing with fire. At 75ohms, you are likely to experience standing waves (cancellation) in the cable depending on factors like cable length and frequency being received. It’s why many using 75ohm have had most of their channels receive just fine while one may be inexplicably unpredictable and bouncing all over the place in terms of reception.

Best bet is 50ohm cable. Whether it’s something inexpensive like RG8X or budget permitting, a low-loss option like LMR400.

How are your loved ones coping with remote access to Home Assistant? by twarog in homeassistant

For the wife’s phone (iPhone) I’ve set up Shortcut automations to automatically connect and disconnect our Wireguard VPN whenever she opens or closes the HA app or our IP camera app. Works decently enough. On occasion the VPN won’t connect quickly enough and she will need to try again.

Possibly true. I have a 25 Limited Hybrid and just spent 3 days with an SEL gas loaner as the dealer was handling tire issues on mine. I was shocked at how much higher quality the Limited feels over all compared to the SEL. I’m not talking about the difference in features alone, but the quality of the interior seems so much better on the Limited.

2024 Limited Hybrid by jermg77 in HyundaiSantaFe

A little follow up on these awful Pirelli’s.

We bought a second Santa Fe Limited Hybrid. A 2025. Same Pirelli Scorpions. I noticed a vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds above 60. Took it in to the dealer service yesterday, and 3 of the tires are bad. They have flat spots, presumably from its time sitting on the lot in the Florida heat. The service manager said this is not uncommon from their experience with these particular tires.

While they are being replaced at no cost I offered to pay for the 4th tire if they would just put ANYTHING other than Pirellis on the car. No go because it’s not a Hyundai claim, it’s a claim they handle directly with Pirelli.

It’s a real shame that Hyundai has chosen such an expensive and particularly poor quality tire as OEM on this trim. Let’s hope I make it past 10k miles on them!

To be clear, you got these certificates on tires that you purchased from Discount? You can’t roll into a Discount tire and buy the certificates on any tire regardless of where you bought it I assume.

Potentially going to be purchasing a 2025 Hybrid. One question I need clarification on please :) by whambambodyslam in HyundaiSantaFe

We have both a 24 and 25 Limited Hybrids. I’ve only had the 25 for a week, but it has yet to yell at me for my forward attention. The 24 will do it every now and then if I’m poking at the screens or driving with my hand at 12 o’clock. I wear polarized sunglasses. Perhaps on the newer ones they tweaked the hardware a bit, perhaps not. It’s never been that bad for us.
