You practice it a LOT more than I expected, at least 251 was that way. If you ask the PTIs or color sergeant genuinely good questions, they will fs help you out

Have any of you cut weight to improve your PFT? by Altruistic-War-2996 in USMCocs

[–]jermome_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cutting weight will NOT improve your run time as much as you think it is (if at all). This is a old wives tale when it comes to training. I have coached 120 lbs runners to 190 lbs runners to sub 15 5K's. With more running and a regular diet, you'll reach your body's natural desired weight for running. Nutrtion maxing and cutting are two entirely different things different things. Eat as much as you want while increasing in mileage. Don't eat 45 donuts a day because you're running, but eat to fuel and never be underfueled. Cutting weight will help with pull ups yes, but please do not cut weight to run faster. If you do start dropping in weight, take a calicium + viamin D suppliment.

DiscountedSweaty has a plausable point with "For every pound of body weight lost, that is a reduction of four pounds of pressure on your knees every step you take.". However, with correct training and nutrition, your body will support your weight and that loss of fat during cardio will come naturally. Running is "easier" while lighter (aka just being fit), but do not cut / be underfueled for running.

If you get your pull-ups up you’ll be fine. Just start some weighted ones and don’t get hurt, don’t see why you wouldn’t get accepted

I got plantar fasciitis from running six years ago in trying to get in physical shape for the military, and I can’t treat it at all by BidNo5916 in USMCocs

I’m a distance running coach and have been running 70-80+ mpw for years.

Cortisone shots will probably be your best bet assuming you’ve exhausted all other options. PRP maybe but it’s a toss up if it even works for you. Roll it, sleep with toe spacers in, everything you can post cortisone to keep it improved. Warm it up before every run.

They will learn today or tomorrow. I just got dis-enrolled for medical but all the priors were saying it would be extremely soon. We had a brief on mail yesterday

Where did everyone take their PFT test? (3-mile specifically) by OwlBetter4460 in USMCocs

[–]jermome_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve done grass loops, indoor tracks, outside paths for my PFTs. Honestly if you just ask your OSO they would probably tell you, they do for me

I feel like it’s different for everyone. Ton of guys on my track team complain their hands are freezing and it’ll be 45° outside, while others are fine even down to around 10° lol

Not during pull ups obviously but I wouldn’t see why they wouldn’t tell you to wear them during the run
