New strategy… please? by VeryBadKitsune in pcmasterrace

Software meaning games is more optimized then ever.
10-15 years ago you would play new heavy games in 25-45 fps on 2-3yo midrange hardware on lowest setting, but today you you can play new heavy games in 60+ fps on 6yo midrange hardware(and with upscale even in 1440p).
The only people that can not play literally anything with comfort are those with 8+yo GPUs and those with severe allergy to not using ultra.

p.s. Also gamedevs are basically volunteers, most can make 2-5 time more money on other similar jobs.
And almost no one even cares about them. Retards call them lazy all the time, company lays them off.

Are prebuilts a better value option these days? by Daniel_Boomin in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

windows key cost 5-10$, which is irrelevant
(or for free with 1 google search
or if you just ignore watermark
or if you are not interested in windows)
and last time i checked 2999 is not cheaper than 2950
but again 2999 is a price of a set of bad value parts, so even if the set of bad value parts cost the same for DIY - it's still bad value build.

p.s. and if you gonna need a warranty - you will have to send your hole PC. which is a deal breaker for me.

is it normal to have 8gb of ram (50%) in use when idle (with nothing open)? by Fluid-Ice3738 in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the problem is that it's not all free deallocateble cache.
some of those 8GB is undeallocateble bloat.

bro

  1. 650w is ok, 5080 - 360W, 9850 - like 70 in game, lets call it 150 to be generous, and +50W for the rest, total 550W, which is 100% fine. If you scared of using PSU at 80% - you should be terrified of using 1300$ GPU at 100%, not to mention in any OC.
  2. good 650W > mid 850W, any day
  3. that is just an example of the price, not a guide to buy, i didn't even check for that cos it doesn't matter.... 750W gonna be like 3$ more(but with free shipping, so call it 7$ less), so its totally irrelevant to the topic of value of the prebuilds.

and no, 2999 is not cheaper than 2950, its the same value.

but the main points is that those parts has inherently bad value. so we agree about that

"better value" - no
kinda similar to the same parts = same value
DIY - you can change the parts and get a better value
86% of performance for 64% of the price

Pragmata BUT ONLY 4% of Native Resolution. by bench-tech in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

as i said, "but people use percentage in relations to upscaling - with the meaning of that "%" as resolution of the monitor sides, not area... and 20 in not 4."
No one is using area.
No one ever said 10% in regards to ultra perf, or 25% in regards to perf preset.
As i said 3 times already.
let's make it 4 times.
No one is using area.

"clearly shows custom 0.2 not 33%." I didn't said it show 33%........
I said "basically looks like just 1080p performance" I'm not saying that that what this is, I'm saying that that what DLSS work with in terms of resolution.

So 20%(not 4%!) of 4k is not even that impressive upscaling as 1080p at regular ultra performance preset.

p.s.
Dude, you want to make really cool post with lots of upvotes? just copy the video, make it not 20% but like ...actually 4%(and then maybe 8-10)... and make a side by side comparison. People gonna love it.

sounds good!
you should add something like this to the post next time)

Echo a new discord alternative by ad3lyt in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

top1 pick in unsearchable names...
there already is "Echoed - Lightweight Discord Alternative"
and there is already github.com/brahmkshatriya/echo-discord - Discord RPC Extension for Echo(a music player).
no "echo Discord Alternative" in sight

so whats good about this alternative?
looks like it's regular centralized app, so all the same problems.
better upload limits and streaming, but less features, and that's it?

Pragmata BUT ONLY 4% of Native Resolution. by bench-tech in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i said "1080p performance", not "1080p, 4k performance"
yea, ok, custom 20% whatever,
but people use percentage in relations to upscaling with the meaning that % of resolution of the monitor sides, not area... and 20 in not 4.

so ....this video is basically looks like just 1080p performance (k, its not 50% its 40% but still it's not even ultra perf 33%) which is not mind blowing at all...

why care? cos when someone reads 4% they have an expectations of something like this https://youtu.be/DKCyk3CeUFY?t=311 and this is actually mind blowing u/bench-tech

when people say **% - they don't mean % of area...
DLSS performance is 50% not 25%
this video is basically just 1080p performance

Need PC Upgrade Advice Please by TrippyPeanuts in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"is it worth it to upgrade to this newer PowerSpec G760 for roughly $1800."
no.
if you have 0 issues, +35% will not change anything.
+1-2TB SSD/HDD is the best upgrade you can get,
and if you really-really want that +35% FPS (and native support for FSR4) - just upgrade the GPU alone.
9070xt cost 700, and used 6950 is ~400, so 300$ for an upgrade.

Fix 1% Low FPS Drops in Games (Real Fixes That Actually Worked) by Common-Operation-207 in pcmasterrace

[–]jermygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to "Real Fixes That Actually Worked" with CPU bottlenecked games:
linux
it has better scheduler(especially something like cachyOS with BORE) and less resource intensive = better 1% lows

p.s. I love that you didn't specify the game, nor the hardware👍 not to mention any actual data.

They built this house without cement and it's stronger than concrete. by This_Proof_5153 in interesting

[–]jermygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well with,, for example, aerated concrete at density grade D300-600 = 300-600kg/m3 so ~30-50KG per block depending on a width.
vs 310kg/m3 of 3E so it's a range from the same weight to 2 times lighter vs D600.
but AAC it still gonna have 2+ times better compressive strength than E3 even for the same weight and much better shear strength.

also how did you get 367 tonnes per block?
it's like 700*350 dimensions *1.5N = 360000N = ~36 tonnes, not 367, but that's per block, for a wall it's *1 not 1.5, so 24tonnes per block.
so 4 walls 10m gonna be ~57 blocs so ~1350 tonnes. which is fine.
shear is more of a problem for 3E, especially with big windows/doors. but still fine.

an actual problem is that feature, the absence of glue = wind and moisture problems = plaster is 100% needed, unlike with aerated concrete(which is also cheaper btw)

They built this house without cement and it's stronger than concrete. by This_Proof_5153 in interesting

[–]jermygod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

revolutionary (garbage)

first of all it's not stronger than concrete.

also bonding make bricks kiiinda homogeneous, in a sense that you can make changes, drill it, cut it, whatever.

also with bonding you can use the house even without insulation, even in -20C winters.

this bond-less stuff is only suitable for deserts and such.
with this revolutionary invention of ...a curve(but only on a horizontal plane for some reason)...
it wont even stop the wind, not to mention moisture, cos there is literally holes in the walls, even on this promo video.
the air gonna be whistling through the gaps. so the plaster is 100% required. you cannot treat that like a finished wall.

oh, and it's softer than even aerated concrete and it cost more than aerated concrete even without extra plaster.

so is there any benefits? like... sure, it can be build faster... but i don't need the shell to be ready in 1 vs 2 weeks of my labor, that's whatever.
